just realized Ive not put any thing up about my new daily.
Ive had it a couple of of years now!
as bought minus the slot mag, ex rally car with blown head gasket and a fair bit of rot
I played about with the original engine ported the head fitted a Bosch electronic dizzy from a xflow and then found out about advance curves
it was always a pig to start, it wouldn't turn over very fast
even after a new starter and big battery and extra earth cables.
then my daily the black coupe started smoking and showing signs of its intergalactic mileage. so ended up using this as my daily.
Ive tried various dizzies and found that a micra electronic unit fits and has a advance curve slimier to the original one
after using it for a couple of days I had Major over heating problems, took out the thermostat and its still over heating. The previous owner had fitted at some point a secondary electric fan to assist it which it shouldn't need for road use. fitted a new rad and its still no better.
rechecked the timing and mixture in case something there was causing the problem. totally stumped I went to see a mate down in chatham to have a chat and see if I was missing something
on the way down she started running rough and lost a bit of power. got there did a compression test no3 was down a bit more than the rest and it felt stiff to turn over still
decided to fit another engine/ on the way home major misfire and loss of power. limped to work the next day and popped of the head expecting a blown head gasket, but its chipped a exhaust valve and is generally fubar.
ended up working through the night fitting a spare mgb engine I had on one side
startup, engine turns over fast
drive home no over heating ;D
yay at last it goes like it should.
then onto the body work
I did a load of welding for its mot, torsion bar mounting front inner wings back of the n/s wing and both headlamp areas of the wings, after getting the mechanicals sorted I decided I had better sort the body work out properly.
welded up the badge holes on the rear
and neatened up some previous patches
also repaired various dents and some rot round the o/s rear quarter window
and got her in primer
then over the Xmas holidays
finished her off in colour
found some rot round the scuttle/windscreen area too
1st coat of primer and 1st attempt at a full respray
white base for the colour
1st colour coat
2nd colour coat
clear coated
its all fitted up now will take some fresh pics tomorrow
