Really a great job! BTW b&D: I was going to use your approach of making an injection system work of only the battery while it's still in the donor car, but I found it doesn't work when you share the donor car with other people ;-)

Top work there , Just a thought but pre engaged staters are VERY fussy on meshing with the flywheel ring gear , a bit too close or too far away and they sound hideous and grind teeth off or even slip , it may pay to make this slightly adjustable as youve made the mount yourself , only pointing this out as ive been there / done that , meshings not as close as you think IIRC , sorry if I'm spouting the odvious

no prob mate. Its just the same as the original but 200ish degrees further round the flywheel. the backlash is stock zetec and distance from the spindle to ring gear should be stock. blind optimism- It'll be fine ;D anyway, we have updates! no doubt dave and mark will ask why I'm taking my sweet time firstly- dave can you get these bushes? or am I gonna have to wodge it up with polyurethane? it does fit under the seat runner, just! the engine does tilt forward to make room. sump needs modding anyway the veiw from underneath. its been hanging on the crane for a few weeks now, only today was it moved. gearbox is offset now to accomadate the inlet manifold. the right hand plate should be the other side of the chassis rail so yoiu get a feel for how much I've offset it. funny thing is the prop looks better now than stock! gonna make another bracket to come from the right side of the chassis making it double shear. prop loosely fitted. the hole in the left hand sheet metal is where the seat runner fits. not much clearance but just enough this is where the thermostat housing used to be, got to make a take of plate. raceline water rails are nice but pricey! you can see the axle is back on now and mounts have appeared. if you worry about suspension travel ( i have! like I have no nails left!), it only moves 2" before the bump stop contacts and I reckon they squash maybe 15-20mm. currently it has 103mm between the sump and the ground, it will have more beofre its finished need to reshape this mounting as it doesn't have clearance for the axle. not a problem as its not finished up yet. its why I didn't paint it other side engine mount. alternator will sit above the oil filter under the inlet. once I make a bracket it will anyway. and thats the way it sits there is probably enough clearance for the front pulley but I'm gonna notch the tube in front of it anyway just to be safe its in the hole!! probably take 50mm off that sump to get some clearance going. 6" betwixt the ground and it should be adequate I looked at radiators, I may have one but not sure. I geuss the stock one won't be man enough the zetec one won't fit, I have a tiny honda one from a civic SiR vtec but I worry the core is too small. another bridge to cross. thats it for now

Hallo Edd,
As before, great progress, wish I could say the same about my trailer... the rain has really held me up lately.
Does the reduction in sump height also mean reduced volume, or are you moving the volume elsewhere ?

Ed, before you go modding that sump, i have this attatched to mine. not sure how much smaller it is than yours but it may help, came from a ginetta G20

firstly- dave can you get these bushes? or am I gonna have to wodge it up with polyurethane? Not sure Edd, leave it with me i´ll make a few calls. Failing that Rian has a spare box in his shed maybe the rear bush is still in one piece? Oh and great progress by the way mate ;D

if you have the rad dimensions, drop me a pm, or put them on here, ad I can see if we have anything suitable in the lockup? - kev Cheers, kev If what I have in mind doesn't work then expect a PM your way Does the reduction in sump height also mean reduced volume, or are you moving the volume elsewhere ? Yeah, the oil pan will go sideways, a winged sump if you will. But I can only realistically go one side with it as the engine mount is in the way the other side. shame about the rain buddy, really annoying when it holds you up Ed, before you go modding that sump, I have this attatched to mine. not sure how much smaller it is than yours but it may help, came from a ginetta G20 thanks Kee, thats a good alternative. only thing is on that the rear bolt mounts have been deleted (I need those for the bellhousing since it lost a bolt hole) and the sump need to be kind of a mid drop or mid bowl. the cross arm for the steering gear locates behind the axle and the sump will need a notch to accomodate this. good idea though LMK how you go with the bush Dave, it wouldn't be the end of the world to get some poly and fill it in. its where the bolt that runs through it had seized and wiped anything good left in the bush outy when I removed it. thanks for all the other comments, I'd be down there now only I just smashed my wrist in starting the alternator bracket

this is where the thermostat housing used to be, got to make a take of plate. raceline water rails are nice but pricey! Retro Ford do a less expensive water rail.info@retro-ford.co.uk 01536 747978. I've also seen a Saab thermostat housing used but can't tell you which one. Good luck with it.

Hi Edd,
Can you not just make dry sump system? You have seen the link, right! By making it to dry sump, I think you will have about 3"! Looks good, do you fancy coming over to Durham to help me with my Mini!?
Cheers Atchi
