Ive gone and done it, gone and bought another mini... this time a clubby estate project, got some daft plans for it but that will stay hidden till the parts arrive. It is going back to a semi stock condition though. Some pictures of the rot box. MMM Rot and holes. No frame left in the rear doors. The fibreglass was hiding what I expected. Needs a front end. I made the first hole by leaning on it. Also this is on both sides. Rear arches are shot, going to tub the rear arches as that will remove most of the rot from them. Under the fuel filler the pannel needs repairing. Also there is a good few mill of bog in the rear pannel, looks like its been distorted by heat. Its looking bad at the moment The list so far. Front end, possible inner wings. Scuttle Panel Closing panels (none existant at the moment) Vent repair panel (maybe inner A panel if thats what its called) Rear valance Rear Doors Step and lower panel Needs rear arches and the rear pannels repairing / replacing. Inner Sills Outer sills. Floor pannels Rear Door step Alot of work needed but it will get done.

Alot of work indeed! All the best with it! I'm not interested in doing another mini project but the clubby estate is the only other Mini i'd own given the oppertunity!
Keeping the same colour etc?

I love finding well done bodges in cars - my dads cousin was a car dealer and one of the finest filler artists i've ever seen. He once brought a capri round that you'd swear was concours standard. Showed us some pics and he'd just wagged over every bit of rust using a fag packet to back it. Probably lasted until the next winter but until that time it was perfect lol think he sold it for a fortune.

Guz, i don't know the history behind the car, if your based in the Manchester area it maybe, its been sat off the road for over a year now but it doesnt look like its faired too well being sat outside covered in mud. Will get it repaired though.
Also the engine is a BMW K1100 head conversion meaning 16v's and a better flowing head which will then be supercharged and intercooled.
Also Clubmans are the way forward, cant go wrong.

Id forgot all about this topic. May not make alot of sense as I'm copying posts straight from another forum. Here is how the estate looks as there isnt a full body picture of it. This is what i did today. Removed engine. No a panels Wings off Holes Slam panel off Lower front panel off Scuttle panel removed Tomorrow I'm off buying some disks to remove the paint on the inner wings and a proper spot weld drill... i think i busted 9 or 10 drills doing that, they were cheapo ones tho. Update Ive stripped the bulkhead to bare metal, de-rusted and primed. Took ages but nitromors + grinder with wire brush tool makes it easy to do Took 4 hours to get all the rust i could off. Doesnt look to bad now. *Edit* Also forgot to mention i set it alight the split pins for the masters were stuck solid and wouldnt turn around, heated them up after wd didnt work the other day and it went well until the soundproofing lit... EEEK!! FIRE! All safe now tho.

Its back upto date now.
I'm currently still cleaning the front end up, removing the rust and treating it. Hopefully i will start on the front end in a few weeks if i keep up with the progress.
