Good news: I changed the timing belt this weekend, the old one was as expected in good condition but glad I swapped it for peace of mind. Took a bit of remembering how to do it and referencing the guide on the e30Zone.
Bad news: I unpacked the new radiator to fit that and found it damaged! Contacted supplier to arrange a replacement.
Getting there... I’ll add some progress pics when I can.
I’ve also ordered a load of bits from BMW to rebuild the gear linkages, a genuine OEM correct one piece gear knob/gaitor, and got a factory short shifter from a later model... I knew this would happen... :-)

I did mine last year and that flywheel didn't want to come off. I'd never done one before so wasn't sure where to lever it. It's gone back on with copper grease. 😁

Here's a few pics. New radiator, turned out not to be damaged but had expansion slots cut into the top and bottom of the frame. I queried it with the supplier and it's correct. Old timing belt, which by the time you get to it you're bound to just change anyway like I did! New belt fitted and tensioned correctly. New radiator fitted this eve after work along with new OEM top hose, correct coolant mix added and system bled. All fine My other new parts arrived for the gear linkage refurbishment so I'll get on with that next, maybe go for MOT first before I take the car to bits again though...?

Hi All,
It's 15 years in July since I bought this car from my mate back in 2007, he'd owned it since 2004. I've finally decided that it's time to let the car go to a new owner now who can take it on, fix anything that needs doing, and hopefully use it a lot more than I have done for various reasons over the last few years!
It's very hard to part with but being realistic I'm unlikely to use the car if I've not got around to it yet. I feel it's time to move on.
I've spent the last few weekends giving the car a good clean up, and treated it to a polish with my DA machine. I found ferry tickets and Ring lap ticket cards from 2009 in the glovebox! The original paint, which is about 90% of the car, has come up fantastically well, and even the pattern wing it had around 2005 looks decent. Pics below, all taken in the last few weeks. I'll also add pics of the extensive service history and the boxes of spare parts I've hoarded over the years.
The car doesn't have a current MOT, I last got it tested in 2017/18 but runs, stops (all new brakes in 2017 and not been far since!), starts and drives very well as I've kept on top of mechanicals as per some of the updates on this thread. Oil, filter, coolant, radiator, timing belt etc. changed in the last year. There's £100+ worth of genuine BMW bits to refurbish the gear linkages sealed in the boot with receipt, along with a Z3 short shift lever if desired. I have fitted the new genuine gear knob (£100+ on it's own!) and it's lovely!
It's a completely original, genuine MTech2 Sport, and has been dry stored in my garage since 2010 ish when I stopped using it much. Original engine, gearbox, LSD all still fitted and healthy, original wheels and centre caps still present. It's been fired up, moved around and warmed up every few months over my ownership generally so hasn't been stood for long. It will definitely need some remedial work to the rear sides of the boot floor, top of the back panel above the lights where the boot shuts, front jacking points and I'm sure elsewhere. There are a few rust blisters on the bonnet and sunroof but generally it's in very good condition for a 33 year old car that was so easy to lose control of as a young man - there can't be many left that have got to this age unscathed.
With all that considered, I'm after £20k for a no hassle sale to an enthusiast. It would need collecting by trailer of course.
Please PM me if interested, I can pass on email and phone number and answer any questions. I'll do a proper advert for the classified section later.
Thanks Stu

This torch doesn't light any more, used to! I replaced some of these tools with cleaner shiny ones from another car, originals included as spares. Spares! Close ups of a few bits... Receipt for gear linkage bits etc. Service history and keys. The car uses a single original key for all locks and ignition but I seem to have had plenty of spares cut over the years. Two original fobs which both work as far as I know. MOTs and receipts go all the way back into the 90s. Service book from day 1 Genuine sport on logbook of course.
