Well the one day left is over - did we finish.................................................er.......no
It was all going quite well, wings fully bolted up & polished, headlanps fitted & wired in, and set for aim, rear bootlamp fitted and wired in, rear number plate fitted, new camshaft cover fitted and new bonnet stay mounts fabricated.
Then it was drilling the wings for the indicators, and wiring them in - which took far longer than planned as all wiring jobs seem to.
We then polished the rear window garnishes so we could fit the rear side windows. Once this was done we tried to fit the rear drivers side window - except it just would not fit After a lot of messing around and getting covered in sealant we gave up & took it out.
We then tried the passenger side but without the sealant to see if it would fit - and it would not either. Even without the rubber there was less than a mm clearance in places. I've no idea how it fitted before.
Soooo.......mr angry grinder to the rescue. You can't grind glass I hear the glass companies cry......oh yes you can
I did warn Phil not to be cross with me if it breaks. But with a lot of careful grinding we removed about 2-3mm in places until it fitted.
So we loaded up the rubber with sealant and managed to fit that peice.
After Phil had left I touched in all the chips with grey paint.
Soooooo.....
Tomorrow we have an extra 'emergency' night to get the rest done.
This will be;
clean rubber & glass for drivers side & grind the glass to fit. Then fit the glass.
Polish & fit the bonnet.
Fit the top radiator mount.
wire in the satnav power.
polish the passenger window garnish & fit it
Take it for a shakedown run & pray everything is ok.
Wish us luck!
