That's good to hear - I'll need to read up on setting the carb up - adjusting the mixture screws does nothing - which suggests the butterflies are open to far so it's idling on the primaries. Don't want to drill holes in the butterflies until I can confirm this though. If it weren't for the hassle of the fuel return lines & tank mods (& costs) I'd be tempted to put the FiTech fuel injection on straight away. You could have the pressure regulator at the rear of the car and run it with just one pipe front to rear, thats what the Monaros and vxr8 do from the factory

You don't need return lines and tank mods to run Efi BPR.
You can have a low pressure rear pump that fills a swirl pot which feeds a high pressure pump . That then pressurises the fuel rail and overflow feeds back into the swirl pot....
Simples!

Yes the FiTech has this option but its bulky in the tight engine bay and extra wiring. Easier to just add a return line.

Did a tiny bit on the car today - been busy building gates for the side if the house for past 2 weeks. Side repeaters wired in and fitted to bodywork; And rear reflectors fitted to bodywork.

Been following this build for ages and the attention to detail is stunning :-)
On the fuel injection front, I don't know if it's similar to the Monaro mentioned above, but my BMW e39 530i runs a fuel filter with a built in fuel pressure reg, so only one fuel pipe runs up to the engine. On the BMW the filter in under the passenger seat, but there's no reason it couldn't be mounted right next to the fuel tank to save running two pipes the length of the car.

I bought some more washer jets as the previous ones did not really fit very well in the car - they were a bit loose. The new ones are the straight fixing ones. This turned out to be a good idea as the new ones are a little bigger and snap into the bodywork properly - result! They look very neat and I've adjusted them and they shoot loads of water onto the screen. Also bonded the zote foam on the roof panel cover, should get the black leatherette on it tomorrow.

Good progress - the little details take so much time! Any idea on when you will go for the test?

Epic thread and build. A great way to wither away the last two days at work reading it. Good luck with the test.

Roof console trim is now completed & fitted; This should keep the BIVA man happy - the only protuding bits are the red switch covers and they only stick out a little bit for the ball to touch, but as they are radiused ok I'm confident they will pass. The red covers can be removed if it's a fail. The padded cover also gets these bolts cleared so no need to radius the hex heads in them now. Blue dot lights taken off and proper red lenses fitted And the hinge radiused plates are now bonded on for keeps, I'm very happy with these as they lok even better than my original covers.

It's very interesting and informative seeing this evolve to fit the new criteria it has to meet without compromising it too heavily. Those wing side repeaters are the only thing that really jumps out as being less-than-permanent. New hinges are very nice and I think the overhead unit now looks better than it did before, which I didn't think it really could.

Thanks Angyl. I CNC'd a MkIII rear screen surround today - finally got the shape to how I like it. And after some careful drilling it is screwed into place. I have a router bit on order for adding the radiused edges which should arrive tomorrow. That's another sharp edge section covered. I had an idea for filling in the old indicator holes sample fitted here, I will machine some smaller ones to fit in the holes tomorrow - should impress the BIVA man

Finished the filler peices for the indicator holes tonight, sunk in a little but edges are blunted so all good. Also finished the handbrake extension, no problem operating it now and handbrake turns might be easy as the ratio is a bit mad, lol. No problem for handbrake efficiency on hills

plod, plod, plod slowly progressing. Damaged car at wheelsday - folded the drivers door back too far unloading from trailer so stripped out A post trims and took exhausts off to investigate damage. Luckily it seems restricted to cracked paint and damaged door trim only and no damage to metalwork. With exhausts off they will get re-blasted and coated in satin black. Anyway........back to BIVA stuff, rear window trim is now fully radiused and just needs lots of prep & paint to finish. Front splitter was also an issue as it was only 3mm thick & not radiused so a new one has been made in 7mm thick with 3.5mm radius on both sides, this should now pass ok. side by side view of old & new;
