More little jobs I'm looking at. Boot. Inside the boot I have the wiring and the vent tubes from the tank. I don't like them as they spoil the clean lines in there, but there is not a lot I can do about it. One thing I'd like to tidy is the tubing for the tank vent though. I want to fit an extra vapour lock fitting but I've been looking at tubing and brake pipe is not a great deal smaller inside diameter than the inner diameter of the rollover vent tube, so I'm thinking of doing the tube with this instead. It would be a lot tidier as I could shape it a lot better to conform with the shapes of the rear panels, and I can also paint it to match. I also have never got around to trimming the inside of the boot, I have all the materials to do it with but I'm fairly happy with the painted finish. However, I may get around to it soon, as such I need to find a way of trimming it but the vent pipe not getting in the way of the trim. So.......start with an offcut of solid ally bar out of the scrap bin; And a bit later it got turned into these; which are stand offs for the rear panel and I'm thinking if I mount the vent pipe to these I can just have 2 neat round holes in the rear trim panel. The panel can go in and the vent tube can then be screwed on afterwards. You might have to wait on further updates on this bit as I have to buy the vapour lock and brake pipe first.

Vapour lock unit ordered and found a supplier of 1/4" copper brake pipe which should be perfect for fit for both inner bore and externally for the silicone tube.
Now searching for a odd sized bump stop (which is another job on the to-do list) to stop the drivers side tyre hitting the inner arch under hard launches.

Anyone know of a UK supplier for bump stops similar to these? They are Prothane 1-1301. I'm looking for about 2" thick, about 1.75" wide and about 3" long (which these are) Black would be preferable.

You could consider making these yourself from (2 pack) silicon rubber. It is available in different grades and you could add some color to it and as you are a perfectionist, you can desigh and make your own brackets which can be connected to the rubber. I have used it to make casting for epoxy and it works great.

I could Peter, might be fun too. But realistically I can get these from America in about a week - probably for the same price as the silcone kit.

Hi James, I did find a few land rover ones - all 'look' ok but they don't list any sizes

I’ll measure one tomorrow for you. I may have a used one you’d be welcome to for mocking-up purposes.

That looks like a Nolathane jobby. Their website has a nice big reference catalogue which may steer you towards other options.

Hmm that sucks. They used to have a pretty good reference system. I know the books we had just had big spreadsheets at the back.

I got roped into a rake of domestic stuff today Mark, sorry. I'll get you some measurements in the morning, promise. I have some brownie points earned that should see me in the garage most of the day.

Ok. I took some pictures, but photobucket is playing silly games tonight and I can’t upload them.
Anyway, stuck a tape on the ones on the Land-Rover and they measure as follows:
At the top, the widest part, they’re 3” wide x 4” long. This tapers down 1.5” wide x 3” long at bottom. They’re 2.25” high, measuring from the base. The mounting holes are mid-way along the long side, approximately 4” apart, 1/4” higher than base.
Hope that makes sense.

Thanks Glen, perfect sense. They will be too big though as chassis is only 40mm wide. Looks like a Summit Racing order is in the offing then. Postie delivered the first part of my vent upgrade today

Yeah, looking at them in place they're pretty chunky.

One of the best changes I've made to my fuel cell is the 45 degree filler neck with screw cap and seal. makes filling up much easier

Mine is a fully sealed cap, very easy to fill up. I have fitted the new valve in the vent line and already the garage smells better. Poked my head in the boot and it's completely fume free - result. It never smelled much in the boot anyway, more from the end of the vent tube under the car.
I should get the new copper tubing in the next day or two, so I can make a start of plumbing it in properly then.
