A bit tired tonight after the long day yesterday so less progress. Also about to go off to sunnier climes for a bit so there will be a break in progress for a couple of weeks. Hose clamps and dual 8mm fuel line clips (Ford Granada ones) turned up today, so these got fitted. The joints in the cooler lines got PTFE added and tightened up - these lines are now finished (barring any leaks when its running again). The fuel pipe has been reshaped and put back - no issues with chafing anymore now The brake pipe will also go through, but that will have to wait until I return.

For the future, you’ve used the wrong brake pipe unions for the rear wheel cyls. American stuff doesnt have a spigot/lead in before the thread like British ones do, they are square threaded right to the end and the thread in the wheel cup is quite short because of it. It seems you’ve realised this and machined the little spigot off which is fine so you’ve got good thread engagement, but you can buy the correct ones for American applications of you shop around.

Hi Dez, they were the fittings on the car, but thanks for educating me. Do you have a link to the correct fittings?

Thanks Darkspeed, as I'm in the Med I assume the link is the correct thread before I order them?

Thanks Darkspeed, as I'm in the Med I assume the link is the correct thread before I order them? Link is to a selection of brake fittings without the lead in no specific size or thread selected - would not have a clue what ones are used on that car.

OK, thanks I'll have to check when I get back then. They are imperial though and my stock ones had the same thread.

Back from hols now so got an hour in this afternoon. New short brake fittings had arrived while I was away, so they will get fitted once the new roll of brake pipe arrives in a couple of days. Std fitting is on left in photo; I made up the new section of rear brake pipe from the centre of the car to the flexible connector that connects to the axle, no photos of that so I'm just waiting on the new pipe to redo the rear axle lines with the correct ends and to replace the front section of the rear brake pipe as although I've got it straightened to fit the clips, it's not nice so will be changed as well. Then as a quick job I tried sorting the ign lead routing - the connector on plug 5 was bent up and although I got it to fit better it was not the best. I took all off the leads off the dizzy cap to clean it (the car is covered in filler dust from when it was painted) and on refitting I had to open up the clips a little for a more positive connection - except No.1 plug lead was green and would not 'click' nicely into the cap. Further investigation revealed this; So a new set of plug leads is now on order as well. Oil got ordered tonight - almost run out of funds now and I need to order new gearbox oil, but I'm not sure what is needed - originally it was Dexron II but we are now up to (I think) Dexron 6 and some is semi synthetic and some fully synthetic. Gearbox is a GM TH180 if anyone can advise?

How much do you need to finish the job?

Hi John,
Not sure, there is some extra money to come to me from some parts sold, hopefully I don't need to spend much more. The only big ticket items left are a new steering wheel (deeper dish if I can find one to get wheel nearer the driver) and new front tyres as the ones fitted look old and one has a big groove gouged out of it.
I'm down to £70 in my pot after buying all the fluids today so will see how it progresses.

Just let me know if I can help and I am quite sure others are with me on this. It sounds as if you are nearly there now so I for one will be very pleased to help you get over the line. Needless to say, I have huge respect for you and the lengths you have been prepared to go, to help a friend.

Many thanks Norman & John for the extra donations, I think with the parts sold and someone else has some in waiting we will be ok though.

Thanks John, If you could send me a week as well that would be great as I've got about 2 1/2 weeks to finish it for the NSRA Supernats! It's going to be really tight to do - I may have to deliberately leave some jobs & concentrate on just getting it drivable for now.
