Hi all - been lurking for some time enjoying your fine forum Anyway, I've just put a deposit down on a nice Lancer GTi-16V: It's had 1 owner and done 58000 miles, has a FSH and original BOS. It's almost spotless outside (alloys are a little tatty) and apart from a broken AC switch, it's the same inside: It drives really well. Should pick it up next week Do you think I should remove the old garage logos or leave them on? - I'm undecided:

It's a 1.8 - 135Bhp
0-60 books in at 7.9 with 135mph top end.
Any tips on removing the logo's - They've been there for 16 years!

That sounds good.
Use a hairdryer to heat them up and be carefull when pulling them off, you may find the paint under the logo brighter as its been hidden from sun damage.
Good luck

Nice! The GTi-16V's we see over here have the 1600cc 4G61 instead of the 1800cc 4G67 you have. The Japanese import models were often called 'Cyborg's and came FWD N/A, FWD Turbo or 4WD Turbo in both Mirage Hatch/Sedan and Lancer liftback variants.

Yer either the hairdryer method or the hot water method either way should work, hot water method is heating water up in the kettle but don't quite let it fully boil (switch it off before it clicks off itself) and should be able to peel it off after that.

I think the early version of the GTi here was a 1600 16 valve. The 4WD turbo's must be fantastic. Thanks for the tip, but I think I'll go for the hairdryer option - I just don't trust myself with a kettle of near boiling water and a car

Splendid car, bonus points too for it being a 5dr. Excellent find with the low mileage etc, there was a doggy one that kept cropping up on eBay for a while. I had a Mazda 323F GT 5dr which had 140bhp 16v engine (ace car), would love to know how this goes in comparison as it’s so alike in concept, similarly the Integra 16v.
I’d leave the plates with dealer tags and older style letters, but must admit the logos aren’t great.
Think we did get 4wd’s here, but non-turbo. Sure I’ve got a road test on one at home.

I had an '87 Mazda 323GT 1600 a few years back and loved it - digital dash and electric everything. I wanted something along the same lines and era and luckily stumbled on the Lancer.
I'm paying £895 for it and got 6 months tax chucked in. Not a bad deal - it was up for £1095 the week before. All the belts have recently been replaced and it should prove fun and reliable for a few years yet. I can't wait to pick it up!

They're the standard alloys and are a little like p-slots.
I like them but if I refurb them I may paint them black

The Lancer looks quite frumpy compared to the Colt, still like 'em though. Nice buy! I say keep the dealer logos, it's part of the car's heritage.

Picked it up today and drove it the 50 or so soaking motorway miles home and it was very smooth and comfy.
It does need lowering though..

I had the colt version of this as a daily up until recently, It flew! I've still got the old set of standard springs if you want them to lop a few coils off?

Cheers for the offer but I think I have a set of new lowering shock and springs coming real cheap

Cool looking car. Logos wise, depends what your plans for it are. Keeping it stock looking, leave 'em be! Any kind of modification (less stickage) get rid!!!!!

I'm looking to keep the car long-term as a daily runner and apart from lowering and maybe a nice low-key burbling exhaust when the stock one dies, I'm not looking to change much. I think I may remove them
