Excellent work! 4th engine!! Love it You did well to get all those Manta 1.8 bits, they're very saught after as far as I know! I think you should get a remote Servo, either one from say, a Rover P6, or a new one from Willwood if it's in your budget. Then you can mount it where you like Shame it wasn't ready for RRS, but at least you've made major progress. Keep it up! I was very lucky. ;D Got the sump and mounts for a tenner and the box for £40! Just shows that these bits are out there, you've just got to find them.

That engine looks right at home in there all except the 'SRi' badging. Nice bit of fabrication work to get it in too, well done I would do as has been said & just run a master cylinder without a servo. I've never had a servo on any of my Escorts. I think i'm going to try it without a servo. The car weighs a shade under 800kgs so I doubt it really needs one anyway. The badging actually reads 'SFI' Sequential Fuel Injection ;D

I ran my last Cortina with no Servo no problem. I like the feel of a "direct" pedal.

Thanks ;D The plan is to keep it looking 100% stock on the outside with the exception of a 60mm drop and some 7 or 8" wide minilites. Oh and sort the rust too

Yeah that should work. So do you mean retain the standard pedal box and just use a smaller master cylinder on its own?[/quote]
a master cylinder kit and a bias valve will be about £50 from rally design. then just a bit of pipe work to go from tandem to single line brakes . worked on my mini that orginally came with a servo/tandem system (although the pedal boxes are different on a servo/non-servo minis) so its an easy swap

Just gone the whole hog and ordered a Rally Design bias pedal box. The pedal positions were horrible anyway so hopefully it will be a lot nice to drive.

As a thought, using an end of a wheelbarrow maybe this is a better option for the firewall : How-to here : www.galebanks.com/camaro-FirewallCowlMod.cfm#And for the brake booster - fit a remote one under the front guard or get an underdash unit from a Mitsubishi van or fit it on the other side of the engine bay with a connect rod from an Alfa or BMW. Great work nonetheless. Really like what you've done.

Thanks for your comments mate.
I got the Rally Design pedal box through and I must say I was a little disappointed. Paying almost £200 you would think you'd get an instruction manual! Putting it together was easy enough but setting up the brake bias is going to be a nightmare, especially when its up in the footwell.

Look at the tips they have on the website and in their catalogue - shows you how to set it up properly. It confused the **** out of me tbh, so i'll have to read it again when the time comes ;D
Should be a fun car when finished - what will it be putting out?

don't go for the Minilites, everyones doing that. Try a set of 8 x 13 Alleycats, they look the spuds! You'll have to sort out wheels fouling the arches as well
