bought a capri laser 2ltr last week and have only just got round to posting it on here not in too bad condition seeming it had been sat for 5 years 3 inside and 2 outside!!!!! onto the car I have started stripping and only have the drivers seat and dash left inside and all is good and solid!!! Sills also arent too bad, arches need a little seeing too and need new front wings and srut tops need repairing. Hoping to tidy it up lower it, add some black wheels, smooth the bumper holes over and a nice coat of white paint and maybe a custom rollcage, hoping to do all work myself but not sure what engine to use as my dad is having the engine, box and fuel tank ! heres some pics for you lot havnt got any pics from when I got but so far I have given it a good pressure wash and stripped inside, I'm goin to check the inner wings today and clean them up driver sill driver sill interior

Sounds like youve been busy, glad to see its not too bad underneath, never know what to expect when a cars been standing (especially old fords ). I dunno about rear arches, I'm sure you can get them maybe try Hadrian Panels and see if they do them, wouldn't expect them to be much. I just sold my Capri and I'm missing it already, very nice cars and its good to see another one getting a second chance at life. Your plans sound good I may be interested in those seats for my estate - where in the country are you? Keep them pics coming.

herefordshire, i know when we bought it i was hinking it was going to be a rust bucket beacuse we were originally just having the parts we needed but now I'm going to do it up then sell it if anyone wants it if they don't ill do a couple of track days in it. They are about £13 for an arch and found out i only may need one !!
what would be the best wheel size for it?? it should be running between 150hp to 300 bhp depending on which engine i use !!
also what shall i do to sort the handling and what make would you reccomend??
i was thinking sport shocks, lowering springs or/and blocks, stiffened inserts on front with sierra or focus rs front brakes with same on rear??
what do you think??
going to strip out the other side tomorrow and see what it reveals!!
any suggestions for dash as mine is cracked i was thinking floating dash on rollcage bar or something like that.
adn how do you take the side things off i can get the door one off but thats it !

Flock the dash. Fill the cracks with flexible sealant then buy a flocking kit from: www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?productID=8388&frostProductName=dummyYou'll need 1 kit and an extra bag of the flock material. Comes up good. Will post pics when ive finished mine ;-) The side rubbers can only be pulled off from the outside. If you're going to do this as a project, try the capripower forums. Full of very helpful chaps and alot of tecnical data of how to solve all the problems you may face!

thanks for the help thought about doing that but didnt know what to do with the cracks now i do!! does it matter what sealant it is?? so you just pull the rubbers off?? i just wondered if there were wo screws like on the door one will do that today and finishing cleaning that up and post some pics up. never heard of the capripower forums I'm on the worldwide capri owners but they don't seem to be very active!!

www.capripower.co.ukdon't believe theres any screws on the inside of the rubbers. Think theres clip mounts welded to the outside, but i'd check on the forum before screwdriving them off. As to sealant, best would probably be flexible exterior sealant that you use for exterior windows to cope with the stresses of temperature changes in the summer months from the sun. Ive used bathroom sealant and it seems to be holding up well.

I thought it'd be a right shed when I looked at the first pics, but it doesnt sound too bad and the floor looks good which is a bonus.
