Groblar - I'm totally up for a set of lights. I've got the grill, but I don't have the headlights or the bit of trim for the front edge of the fenders. The round light setup looks so much better then the Bluebird era facelift grafted onto the late model 240k. Datman - I'll certainly be in touch when I start to put it back together. The only panels I've got my work cut out with are the front fenders and bonnet - I'd be surprised if there are any of those left in circulation... the front lights and grill are on ebay, ending very soon. if you miss it and they don't sell give him a call. i'll pm you his number. he is breaking one and also has spares. the shell is well past it but he might have a few bits for you. cgi.ebay.co.uk/DATSUN-SKYLINE-240KGT-C210-GRILL-AND-HEADLAMPS-HORNS-/270630506571?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f02d5d04bas for the wings, i want a pair too but was thinking about trying to make a mould to produce fiberglass ones. if i do i might be able to make them to order if your interested....

Update-age... Cracked on with re-building the wheelarch. Slow going, as it needs a whole lot of pulling about and bashing to get anywhere near straight. I'll be using filler to finish it up, but I want to use as little as possible, so I'm trying to get it right with the metal as best I can. Steadily bending the repair strip into shape, cutting it where required to get the curvature. Tacking it to both the rear wing and inner arch as I go. Reasonably happy so far - but it's slow work to get it straight - it's taken me a whole evening to get this far. Still need to finish off the repairs at the bottom corner of the boot before I can weld in the last few inches of the wheelarch repair. I was wary about using this 'universal repair' panel, it does seem like a bit of a bodge, but without anything else to go on, I've had to try this route. Provided I get it straight, and covered in metal, not just filler I think I can sleep at night.

The shape of that wheelarch looks spot on. Are you going to weld all the slots up or weld a flat sheet up to the edge with the arch shape cut out?

Thanks for the encouragement... Progress... I've plated up the arches Not perfect, but nothing a skim of filler can't fix. Also patched up a bit of the inner arch where it's corroded from between the flanges I've filled holes And made a start on fixing up the flange around the trunk lid - Water has sat under the seal and rusted it away. I'm doing one bit at a time to retain the shape as best I can. That's it for now. Next job is to sort out inside the wheelarch and paint it up, which is a nasty job, because it'll mean having my head up inside there with a paintbrush. Once that's taken care of I can start the long job of filling and sanding to get that arch right. It's definitely going to take some time to get something near straight.

It's been a while since my last update, for reasons I'll come to, but here it is: I've tackled the rotten joint between the rear panels and the floor. Rear valance off. Flange cut off, and rusty floor patched up. Just need to patch up the valance and re-attach. The worst but is covered by the bumper, so shouldn't be a massive job. Slowly getting the filler work done - it's a pretty complicated shape to get right, with the feature-lines running through it, and sanding is so intensely boring, that I'm only doing a little at a time between other jobs. Like starting on the hood: The front end needs a bit of a re-build, but the rest looks pretty solid, other than a bit of surface rust. I'll probably sort the underside out first, then put it back on before tacking the patches onto the front edge, so I can get them to line up with the fenders as best I can. I've started making the patches up. ready to go. That was the progress up to the end of last year. Then I got ill. Really ill. After spending much of this year in and out of hospital, I'm now back home, but probably won't be up to much for a few months yet, but I've managed to get a few jobs done. I've tidied up to put everything where it should be, and to get rid of non-car related stuff. And started putting anything I can back on the car where I've finished tidying up the shell. Next job, when I feel up to it is to put the suspension back on the left side so I can roll the car out and turn it round to start on the other side - the problem with having a long but narrow garage...

Being local, I'd love to see it in the flesh sometime.

I wish I'd your skills! I've bookmarked this as love following these sort of threads. Fair play to you for doing it all yourself in such a small area too. Looking forward to seeing it finished.

So, a move to the other end of the country and another house project has meant that I've not even looked at this for about 3 years. I dragged it (literally) out of a damp garage to see what I have left. It looks worse that it is - there's a bit of surface rust on the bits that I didn't get any paint on, but it'll come up OK. It's a shame I'm not going rat-look, as I've absolutely nailed it...

Never seen this thread before, looking forward to more updates, it's looking good so far and the end result will be worth it. What sort of power does it make?
