matt.. hows that ceramic stuff work then? didnt you use it on the v8 merc as well? It's a ceramic coating that insulates the manifold and reduces engine bay temperatures by around 30%. And yeah, used it on the V8, too. It's really good and means I can ditch some of the nasty heat shields that clutter up the engine bay!

Matt, How much was the ceramic, I just got a quote for my headers..........£650 + vat!!!!! They weren't cheap, but nowhere near that much! Did you get your quote through Zircotec? If you mention the Practical Classics special offer you get a 10% discount

Instead of consuming vast amounts of chocolate, an overpriced fizzy alcoholic beverage from the south of France and having sex like a lunatic, I've been on a painting bender (mainly because the mrs is visiting relatives ). Some grotty parts turned pretty after some serious prepping: I finally got around to painting this sucker (heater box): Then refitted this, realising that the servo looks RANK. Bums. Oh well, it's next on the list: Then I sorted out the floor with rust-preventative paint. But all you can see is my head. Bad pic action, I'm afraid:

I've been putting this off for a while but finally cracked into it last week. Just to get a new repair panel now. They don't exist. Bums. More rot dispatched: Also, I REALLY need the following bits: Light switch: And these tiny screws for the instruments. They're a weird thread size but standard for larger sixties Rootes metal: Definitely considering some flames: But hopefully, I won't be getting any real fire near my ride for some time. It's COMPLETELY re-wired!!! Hurrah! To celebrate, I pimped my Lumenition to match the 'bay. Mmmm, matte black on shiny.

A huge thanks to Mr Seth. Memory isn't my strong point, but at some juncture I was whining about the broken Smiths clock in my Humber. Seth then conjured a glorious plan involving ripping the old, knackered internals out of it and installing in a modern watch mechanism. As a watchsmith (is that what you go by, Seth?) he had the bill-paying skills to hook it up for me. Thanks again, dude. It's cool little touches like this that are gonna make this project a low-maintenance custom that I can enjoy without having to take apart and fix every two minutes.

I think the words you were looking for were Antiquarian Horologist Thanks for the plug That's the old electro/mechanical movement in the photo by the way and some 300 year old bits out of focus at the back
