You'll get used to the column change, Sniper did and says he prefers it. Our old Rapier was a manual and the Snipe is auto.
So are you going to make it to the Humber Club rally at Bolsover Castle at the weekend and upset a few people? It's quite funny to watch!!

Yeah, those modern ones don't wash with me either. But it's kinda bottom of the list for the while - the camper conversion has begun!

Talk of the gearboxes reminds me of my father's tale of his taking his mothers S2 Snipe from their Torquay (Australia) holiday home to Bells-Beach; dirt roads at the time- whereupon it's auto decided it would only select reverse & he & his friends drove it the 10 km (?) home that way. Would have involved the Great Ocean Rd as well I imagine!
A stone lodged in the selector mechanism !
Don't think any of them had their driving licences at the time either -early 1960's !

Very classy ride!! You will get to love the column change - if you havent already! I wouldnt be without it on my Cortina estate. It dictates the character of the car.

Disaster struck - I was following Mattwright to RR07 in his Spitty and he was wildly overestimating the cornering ability of the SS. During one of the screechy b-road pursuits I lost one of these But luckily markbognor - nice to meet you mate! - convinced me to buy a set of these: But then this started dropping fluid everywhere (power steering pump) It was OK though, this crafty chap force-fed me alcohol all weekend, culminating in an intoxicated decision to send our veggie mate to the butcher to buy a whole leg of lamb for the barbecue: And, most importantly, I spent the weekend doing this with various people in, on and hanging out of the Humber Thanks for the shot Grizz - it's the only one on RR!

Tumble drier hose? The valve is likely to be common to other Rootes stuff if not even many other cars. Might be worth seeing if something common like an MG one is adaptable? Alternatively use a plumbing ball valve. You have to open the bonnet to adjust the flow but at least you can turn it on and off Its gonna look brill on Moon discs

Thanks seth - sounds good.
I completely forgot to grab that sealed beam unit off you. Bums.
I'll post a pic replete with Moons asap. Great to see you again, even if I was having a rather rude conversation!

Great to see you again, even if I was having a rather rude conversation! Topic of conversation seemed to have changed when I got back to the group after you'd left I didn't have the light with me and I'm not 100% sure I have got a gennie Lucas one but I'll have a look in my stash and let you know.

Congrats Matt - you are continuing the age old tradition of Practical Classics staff buying unreliable cars. Why change the habit of a lifetime?

I was pretty well urinated off that I did not get a pic or two of the Diamler.... it sounded soooo cool.
Who is the driver, who it seems was the alcohol feeded ? Face seems familiar, but cannot recall a name.

That would be Fuzz of Pop Will Eat Itself, Bentley Rhythmn Ace and Palma International fame. He's our new Writer at large (whatever that means) and has an odd fascination with busses. Indeed DW - minters are for puss ies

Oh, and Fuzz owns the Daimler. It's gorgeous, despite the baggy bottom end.
And Grizz, if you're at the Executioners End of Summer Riot this Sept, you'll be able to check out the Benz.
