On Sunday I picked up another car ! After speaking to a friend about whether he knew anyone who was selling a cheap veedub he pointed me in the direction of one of his mates who had the car cluttering up his drive. He had to get rid as he had another on its way so I got my girlfriend to drive me down to york to pick this beauty up ! After checking the levels and tyre pressures, we set off back up the a1 to northumberland and the car didn't miss a beat. Its got a bit of surface rust here and there, the clutch doesn't have much travel and the brakes might need a bit of attention but hopefull it should back on the road soon ready to ferry me to uni in september so that I can take the rallye off the road over winter. Hopefully work will start this week and I'll also be giving it a bit of a makeover !! ;D
**pictures to add once photbucket decides to work !**

That looks like a wreck. The brakes probably don't need attention, they came like that out of the factory.

Terrible brakes, terrible steering, but they are a lot of fun. Hope you make something of it because the Coupe S is quite rare now.

Hmm, 43bhp per litre, thats pretty abysmal actually, worse than an Austin Ambassador single carb or even a C-reg Toyota Space Cruiser (both 45), not as bad as the benchmark Aussie market Mitsubishi Sigma 2.6 however with an 80's yank-rivalling 39.

It's only got 5bhp more than the 1093 engine, I can't work out how they managed to get so little power out of it. Tuned for torque? It's got a mega 73 lb/ft of stump-pulling power.

here's my first (and i hope not the last) update: decide to start small and work up as I've never done anything like this before. the bootlid is in pretty good nick really but there was a bit of bubbly rust around the lock barrel so I decided to get it off ! the cars getting painted anyway (just with rattle cans - don't get excited ;D) heres the boot at the start: the car had a vinyl covered numberplate recess which was a bit ratty so I took that off and then removed all the badges and the lock barrel. I rubbed the rusty spots with sand paper/wet and dry and then skimmed a bit of filler over the pocked bits round the barrel. I also filed the hole for the lock barrel as it was a bit tight coming out. I then did one coat of 1k etch primer and then another coat of normal primer. This is how far I got: I also decided to paint the badges so they've been primered ready for paint tomorrow: last shot is of my pimp spray bench - ;D hopefully more to come asap !

update 2: my sunday was spent doing this - I took the bonnet off and d/a'd it. then put a coat of etch primer on, a coat of primer and then put two coats of satin black on it. I also did my airbox cover as well but the finish is curse word so its getting done again ! bonnet in primer: airbox lid in primer: my finished badges: I was quite tempted to run it like this, letting that fire breathing motor run wild and free !! ;D and this is the finished product: more updates soon !
