Nice & subtle - very cool! Did he do anything around the bonnet nose trim too?
I know that someone on here ;-) is itching to paint big scallops inside the ridged section on the roof of my estate!
Btw, just noticed your towbar - all the ones I've seen in Kiwiland seem to be pretty much the same bent thick plate design too - is that a local regs thing?

Thanks Paul, I think it ties in the boot handle quite nicely. The townar was custom made by the previous owner, I doubt it has anything to do with regs

Looking good DD. I`ve got a similar problem with my axle. Thinking of putting Sven off the road for a year or so while I get other projects sorted.

That pin-striping job looks great!
You mentioned previously that you've spent over 9K on it. On the plus side, with prices for these as they are, (I was looking recently), you'd be hard pressed to replace it for that kind of money.

Thanks guys, I'm wrapped with the 'striping. It was don in 30+deg heat with a mean wind, full credit to Ryan for pulling it off, all I did was offer an approximate size, sit back and watch. Only bummed that my camera batteries died half way through the job, but somewhere out there there's video footage of it being done that I have to find

So I had a couple of issues in the Amazon... Generator packed up but luckily I had an original '72 144 series alternator waiting to go in, so I had that sympathetically rebuilt and refitted by a friendly local auto elec. Wonderful result - still period looking but now charging at about 14V so I can wire up the spotty! After that I had temp issues, car got hot once (sticking thermostat, not too hot), I replaced the thermostat, flushed everything, and found that the temp gauge was still sitting noticeably higher than usual. Was also worried that generally when I touched the rad the top was hot but the bottom cold. Tried another thermostat with no luck so took it to my mechanic. He flushed and pressure tested everything, then tested temps and discovered the gauge has just somehow jumped out a bit. Even running the car stationary in his workshop with a newspaper blocking the grill he could only get ti to 100 degrees C on his heat gun, at which temp my gauge was off the scale. Runs so nice and cool that the thermostat only opens for seconds at a time, before closing having sufficiently cooled everything! About a week ago I jumped in the car and Found I had no headlights. High beam but no headlights. Turns out that is probably the floor switch wearing, hit it a few times and it's good again so will leave repairs until I get back from the UK. on the same drive I started getting a horrible rattle in the front suspension when going over bumps. Couldnt see anything under the car so drove it carefully home. The cause you can see below. After jacking up the front end it was very obvious - the Driver side shock had eaten not only its lowest rubber bush, but also the steel washer/plate on it! Thankfully the volvo steel was still solid, so I simply replaced the bush and plate with a pair off the Simca for now. Before replacing it I could grab the bottom of the shock and swing it a cm or so in every direction :0 There's what the mount looked like, you can see that the nut has gone right through the bush and washer! the result once removed:
