There was a Pagoda SL which had a Grosser 600 engine fitted back in the early '70s, as my grandfather watched it annihilate the then current baby Ferrari on an autobahn - he saw it again at the next petrol station & turned out the woman in it worked as a test driver for MB.

Car retrieved today from hibernation. Despite it being put in there back in September last year, I turned the key, and it fired up straight away! Just have to MOT it, and it'll be back on the roads for the summer. Just hope the weather improves.....

Absolutely beautiful! Perfect as it is My old boss has one in white tucked away somewhere, I must find out and get pics. I asked the other day whilst doing some work for him. Turns out he advertised it for sale in the Autotrader, had a few people down to look at it then had a break in at work not long after (it was kept there but out of public view). It was stolen and nothing else was touched. When he rang the insurance company they said there'd been a spate of that paticular car, so be carefull

I'm really missing this car at the moment. The weather is grim, and it's been back in winter hibernation now for about 2 months. Can't wait to get it back out again in the spring! I've even got a new numberplate for it (that'll be the 3rd since I've had it, and about the 6th it's had since new!)

I've not updated this for quite a while, have I?
Come April last year, I took it out of hibernation, and drove it into my garage for a pre-mot service. The first bad news was that the exhaust was knackered. I had bodged it a couple of years ago with a mondeo back box, but the bodge had gone again.
So I decided to bite the bullet, and fit a stainless exhaust. Not cheap! As I was fitting it, I discovered a few crusty bits on the sills. A bit more poking, and those few crusty bits turned into major rot. Not good.
And so it sat in the garage for the whole of last summer, until I decided what to do. There's no point in patching these things, as that would only be a temporary fix, and would affect the resale value in the future, so eventually, I saved up the money to buy new panels, which are available from Mercedes.
It's far beyond my skills to be able to put in new side members, so I've entrusted the work to my local bodyshop. I've been informed that it'll be ready next week, and I'll put some pics up then. Roll on the summer!
