A week on, Twigzy and I completed the unfinished road trip from Dundee! Good to see my babies! It looks like Mr xbo11ox was right, any bits of wood are addons from the chap who built it, bless him! It should actually have an E-Type front snout, I even wonder if the 'Bumpers' are meant to be there. the roof set up is custom too, but I have the propper hardtop bit Mr xbo11ox seems to know more than anyone about this so far. well done, however it looks underneath like its a propper custom chassis, now my worry is; wo welded it the DIY builder, or did it get welded at the factory! Dificult to photo underneath, looks like a sub frame at front, linked with trans tunnel and Box's under sills to back end set up. All in all I'm feeling this project now, getting the Italian Alfa vibe, just a few ideas for it now.

I understood that these things were an external body panel conversion on an alfa GTV, so when you look underneath the chassis should be a factory Alfa GTV floorpan.
I may be totally wrong of course. Has it got a separate chassis 'frame'?

I Think, it has got a seperate frame, althogh I could be wrong, the builder has already done his own thing elsewhere, so who knows what the deal is. I just hope whatever it is, that the chassis is right and strong!
As for the roof, thats slightly custom aswell we think, theres a flat removable hard top-top that would sit ontop of windscreen and roll bar, instead he's joined it permanent with summat else and I think was gonna sling in a sunroof!!!
Twigzy had a good point that it shoult really have a roof set up like a Trump Stag, as the standard doors will be framed....

best one for technical knowledge on the GTV will be; www.alfabb.com a US website but they are more helpfull than most of the UK ones (plus the UK ones cater for the more modern Alfas - apart from the AROC club forum - but that costs £ to join). I could be wrong abouth the year - this is an 1984 V6 version - heaters the same;

Madness! I don't envy you at all taking that on - could be a lifetime commitment to finding bits and bodging others to make it presentable.
Still, if you have the T/M/S ratios* working in your favour.....
... and when are we going to see this mythical v8 sierra?
*T/M/S = time, money and space: all three of which are things I lack

If you get sick of it the engine will bay off for about 125-150 notes. Assuming its not seized or 'Melvyn Bragged' in some other way.

100% Correct! ;D I don't envy you at all taking that on - could be a lifetime commitment to finding bits and bodging others to make it presentable. If I do,, do it, which i'd like to it will be Custom, like I said its the curent build quality which is my concern, sure it will be fine. Seems to me all effort has been spent on mechanicals, it apparently did run, tho only things I can see missing are plug leads, exhaust, and battery, so I can see us getting two of those items, and testing the 'investment' Its gonna be very simple, bodywork is the one thing I am confident I can do so it should be fine, having recently learnt to weld, and practiced some DIY paint and filler applicating, i'm quite comfortable with this old thing. Still, if you have the T/M/S ratios* working in your favour..... Not really, most of us here live in teh real world don't we? I have spent every day away from work recently getting some of mine, safe/presentable, or ready for sale, so I may not have T/M by the bucket load but I do have a fair bit motivation;) Theres no rush for this bad boy to hit the roads, but I liked it, and some poor MS sufferers life long labour of love was about to hit a land fill, so of course We rose to the challenge, of cours if i'd know exectly how far Dundee was, I *may* of chickened out!, so i'm happy with the outcome. and if I do get bored, i'll be handing over the keys to the next inline. done simply this will be an ace fun summer ride and fast tracking car. ... and when are we going to see this mythical v8 sierra? Not much action i'll admit, I'll bump the cob webbed thread... Cheers Jamie and xblx

Yeah thanks for that. Turns out it an early one, but they still think its Fugly! ;D Hairnet says am best getting a cam belt and change of oil before I try it, I know the builder did a lot of mechanical work, it all looks fresh, but Hairnet may be right. Edit: ahh looks like someone has come up with some gold nugget for me!

xbollox is right - they are chain driven.
just take the rocker cover off & s/plugs out - check the cam chain tension (bout 3-5mm depression between the 2 cam sprockets. then turn it over by hand 1st.
