Fairly sure he's right - Scrapheap Challenge had that twin-engined Taxi and they had to disconnect one of the engines for road use. And the fantastic twin engined Range Rover ice cream van!

Every time someone states this, I ask, where does it say that. Theres a number of kit cars use two bike engines strapped together which are legal. Two engines but they can't operate independantly.
I have heard it said that twin engines where both drive separate transmissions are illegal, but again nobody can point to a regulation which states this...
And then the Mini Moke 4x4 had twin engines and twin transmissions and that was road legal. Theres also some hulking great 4x4 truck things which have dual tranmissions.

Not to mention a number of VW's which have been built with two engines...although they were capable of running on just one.

The only place i've heard that a twin-engined car is illegal on the roads is on Scrapheap Challenge, never seen any evidence of it anywhere else. I think Scrapheap got mis-enformed somewhere along the line and an urban myth was born

both engines drive the diff by separate chains and the throttle and gearchange will be linked by clevis pins so one engine could be used ,this one will run on 13" wheels so it will have proper brakes unlike the van or the regal . this has been done before on a grasstrack car so i know it will workthe only head scratcher is how to mount the engines so that they can be moved independantly to tension the two chains

They claim that all those vehicles are SVA compliant as well....

Maybe the scrapheap car failed the SVA on something something twin-enginged related, and as they didn't have time to address/sort/fix it, they just disconnected one engine when on the road?

Clarkson had that limo of his SVA'd and look what happened to that! It snapped in half!
Wicked, wicked idea! A mate of my mates dad was building a single bike engined kitten but ive not heard anything else about it lately, but twin engined one is mental! It will be difficult to go the sleeper route with 13's on it, but that could out-sleep anything!

I should grow up really but there is a n/a cosworth engined kitten up north and I want to have the fastest pig ever built ;D I've seen that car locally a couple of times and it looks a bit mad - home made bits all over the place. Very loud and fast though ;D
