Hello, this is my BMW 316 which I've mentioned a few times. I've had it just over a year now and progress has been extremely limited and slow. Here it is stock: Some tasty crust in the floors: This side had been the worst, but this has since been welded. Some rake, caused by -60mm suspension on the front and stock height on the rear. The car's going to be bumperless as I think it looks a hell of a lot better and it's different. The E21 community like their E21s untouched! I was after a steering wheel for a long time, a trip to B&Ds garage sorted me out a treat! Before Much Better! It's been hit with a large stick and I'm extremely satisfied with the stance. Removing the rear bumper this weekend unearthed some hidden horrors! Most of the front is missing due to a combination of a single headlight conversion and the swapping of the front valence. These are planned to go on... 15" BBS 6J front, 7J rear and going for some reasonable stretch E30 318is seats, mounts are chopped and ready to be welded on to the e21 mounts at the end of this project. This isn't as groundbreaking and inspirational as most of the projects on here, but it's great fun and I can't wait for it to be back on the road. I also picked up a 318i and a 2002 engine this weekend and some cross pollenation may occur in the future. Roll on RR show '07!

This isn't as groundbreaking and inspirational as most of the projects on here, but it's great fun exactly and thats what its all about.... looks spot on in the later pics - proper stance good work so far , keep at it !

Great motor, I really like what you've done with it. lowering it that much has made it look 10 times cooler than before, and the wheels you have planned are an excellent choice I didn't think i'd like it with no bumpers but I have to say that looks tough as hell, and if it upsets the purists then its got to be a good thing! Absolutely top effort!

bumperless should work if holes are filled etc, looks like a modern bumper behind.

Loving it. E21's rule. I saw a mint black 316 the other day and it looked mental. Nice project you have there. Look forward to seeing it develop.

That looks great! Losing the bumpers works very nicely. What are you going to stretch over 6s though? 135s?

Thanks for the great comments Reanimation, yeah the holes will be filled, especially since removing the rear bumper has undiscovered some less deliberate holes. Definetly not putting bumpers back on the car so it's not a problem. With regards to tyres, I'm not really sure. I know stretch up front is going to be barely anything, I just dream of a stretched look I'll probably end up running the same sizes tyres front to back and obviously there will be more stretch on the rear. Most likely 185/55 15s. I have to sand and polish 3 and half wheels first! Cheers.

Cheers for the comments again Ed, the side moldings will go in time... just worried what I might find underneath! I'm also planning to convert the headlights back to singles (which I believe is how my car was stock), but it doesn't seem as easy as once thought and I may have to work at the electrics. Hopefully more progress next weekend!

My it's been a busy 5 days! Having found out my e30 318i daily was terminally ill I had a few options; 1. Find another heap to runabout it 2. Plonk a new engine and clutch into the 318i 3. Prepare a Rover P6 for an MOT that hasn't been run in years. Then I thought about this car and set myself a 5 day deadline to get it back on the road! By 7:30pm Wednesday (day 5) the car was ready to hit the road, but I have to confess it would not of been possible thanks to Edd (Bodieandoyle). His heroic efforts with the welder saved my bacon as the drivers side floor, rear bumper mounts, the rear valence and some serious rust mounds in the boot (believed to be something to do with rear seat belt mounts) were all welded up . He also did a fantastic job of mounting and welding the 318is seats and boy are they a lot better than the e21 seats! I can't thank him enough as it wouldn't be on the road other wise. The rest of the work was less exciting so I'll let the photos do the talking. Floor! Bumper mounts and valence Before After 318IS Seats looking good Before After Because the bonnet catch failed at 70mph down the A14! Still a lot to do and some crust to cut out, more importantly it needs those BBS's!! But it is on the road and is a hoot. Numberplate placement may not agree with all, but there is too much of a bend in the centre of the valence. It maybe ugly, but at least its driving!
