Well I went over to my car this morning to do a few bits and thoughtI would take a few pics. This is a work in progress and currently has no exhaustas themiddle section rotted away!, Although hopefully next weekend I will be able to get somewhere to make me one. Any way here she is 1983 Triumph Acclaim HL just over 50,000 miles on the clock. Cost me £135 of ebay plus £60 of welding for the MOT ;D Rust partway through treatment. And a little filler Plan to keep the wheels going to recondition them back to there former glory. Not sure what to do with the badges may repaint them, get new ones or just leave them. Its payday on Thursday so hopefully a I will be able to get an exhaust sorted, I may replace the pipe with some flexi pipe, and then she will be rocking. I need to finish the rust treatment and then give her a touch up with some paint. Then a nice sunny day will be needed for a full day of polishing andwaxing to bring the Beige back.

I like Acclaims! We had one for a few years, low miles as it my stepdad's father's car and we inherited it. Nice drive, took it France a couple of times. Sadly rot and one or two mechanical maladies meant it got sold for banger racing in the end My Accord feels much like a faster Acclaim, and even the feel of some switches is very familiar, like the pull-pull main/dip light switch. For what to do, pick up cues from Ballades? Keep the beige obviously, but black window trims/centre pillar inside the chrome and at the least chrome trim rings on the wheels? Maybe two-tone, with gunmetal/bronze (not plain black) below the lower swage line?

What an AW-SUM car!
'Charles Clark' dealer sticker is cool, or is that the last owners name! ;D

Bit rough around the edges but there you go! Obvious slam and nice wheels combo, pinstripe, doorlock and stubby aerial removed. I like the standard wheels as well though.

That looks really good I am definatly thinking about slamming it but on the original whell ( mainly down to money ) as for the pipstrip removal that looks ace I hadnt really considered it thanks. As for the "charles clarke" sticker I ususally remove them from my cars as they are never the original dealer but this one is so it will be staying. It also has the Austin-Rover service sticker in the from windscreen.

Triumph Acclaim mirrors are massivly brilliant. Far too big. I bruised a rib as a small child when I tried to squeeze past my dads acclaim and a tree. The mirror won.

I was hit by one of those buggers when I was on my BSA aged 18yrs old, he was drunk, I was in the way & he did it outside a police station so I had best witnesses possible. My foot faced backwards & my shoulder was dislocated. My bike was sorta dead. So I hate Triumph Acclaims ! Hrrmmpphhh MM

Some more pics as requested. Radio is out at the moment but I have the original Triumph Badged Motorola LW and MW button push to fit. Dash Have found a speaker cover in the same colour that I should be getting next week. All the seats in in very good nick need a bit of a clean but no rips. My favourite bit in the car, there is also a clip in there to put notes. Nicely faded and goes well with the dealer sticker inthe back. Doh, backbox is currently in the boot. Under the hood 1342cc 70bhp @ 5500rpm

Nice motor Dimebar! Is there any other colour to have an Acclaim in? I don't think so!
Personally, I'd be tempted to put an enormous steering wheel on the roof just so it matches the toy car I had as a child!

Hahaha, I love the holder marked "COIN". Nice interior! And nice to see you fitting the original radio, I like seeing a smart old radio in an older car.

I've been given the original stereo for my miniMetro - and the single central speaker! Definitely going to be fitted at some point.
