Hey all, i've been looking at the site a lot lately and loving some of yours cars, so I thought i'd register and start to show some of mine. i've a few minis, but only pictures of my cooper at the moment in some pictures it looks low at the front, it looked a bit cool but it handled like curse word. anyway, I hope you like it! i'm hoping to sell it soon and buy something a bit different..and then concentrate on my mayfair. PS: my other cars are, 91 mayfair (retro cooper lookalike thing) 94 sprite 2000 corsa soon to be for sale to help towards my next car and a 96 306 tdi (are they retro yet? i'm well chuffed with mine)

Welcome to Retro Rides. Lovin' the original look to this one. Everyone want to whack on 13s or squeeze on a set of 10" rims these days. Here's to keeping the 12s on!

thanks for the comments...i like the 12's too, but everyone says they handle better on 10's. though this one has some decent suspension and yoko tyres so it corners pretty well. but it's just not getting used enough, i've used it about 2 times this year..so i need to let it go to someone who'll use it and love it.
i do intend to get some 10's on my mayfair when it's back from the garage.

Nothing against 10s - I do like the mk1 look - but I also like to see some standard-sized wheels. Our City is still on the original 12s but then we are sticking with the un-modded look. Off to Yorkshire in it today because I've been doing daft mileage in the 2CV and I fancy a change!
Plus, the Mini will cruise at 70 whereas the 2CV is flat out!

my friend has bought a silver and black 2cv to replace her silver and black cooper.
i've never thought much about them before, but she says the ride is about a million times nicer than her cooper. is there such a thing as a fast 2cv? i mean did they ever produce a sporty model?

thanks mate...i see you've got 7 clubbies! what are they like?
i feel like i've had enough of minis at the moment...so i'm definately going to sell this one soon, but i'm worried once my mayfair is finished, i won't be too fussed about driving it either. and i'd need to decide what i want to get next

Fast 2CVs - try the Ami Super. Same basic mechanics but upgraded to a 1015cc flat four! Or try one these. Very similar but rotary power! Even Citroen had a dabble in the 70s.

i'd like around £1400 for it really (with a full mot)
it's got receipts galore, a new 'box, new waterpump, new shocks, decent yokos and all that jazz. i think once i mot it, i'll stick it on ebay at £1200 and see if it goes. it had 90 watchers last time, but i think i was being a bit too optimistic with the price.

yeah it was the knuckle joints on mine...get them done before long because i left mine too long and it cost me about £100 to get 'em sorted.
Mark, the sills, subframe, floor, boot, inner wings, are all good. the drivers door has a flake of rust on it, and the a panels are just beginning to scab. the scuttle is looking a bit rough..but it's not bad enough to lose much sleep over. the front end, and wings are perfect.
when i get a full mot on, i'll pm you to let you know...or i'll give you a link for ebay.

i'm going to try to book it in for mot tomorrow, for monday...so hopefully, i'll be able to get some good pics of the underneath and what not.
i'll ring the garage tomorrow and let you know how i got on, and what it needs...if anything. (it's actually mot'ed until the end of april but i'd rather put a year on it, so it's a more attractive purchase)

Nice, I like that!
What seats are they? They look like cobra classics or something similar? What do you reckon of them?

i think they're cobra classics..they were £175 with subframes and a rear seat cover.
they're pretty suportive, but the ones i had in there before were comfier on a long journey (you can see them in the picture with the boot, doors and bonnet open) i'm not a skinny guy, so i find them a bit too tight. they look cool though
