Just thought I would say hello and introduce my Caddy to the non VW world I started building this one about 3 years ago and it been driven daily for about 18 months and covered over 20k miles in that time. The turbo is a new addition (Nov) and it flew before now its just bloody scarey ;D its not been on the dyno yet but should hopefully be in the region of 350bhp It started life as a 1.6 N/A Diesel and cost me £75 off ebay the whole original front section of the chassis has been removed and re-designed to accept the whole front subframe & suspension from a MK3 Golf, whilst I was there I added power steering and ABS. Interior mods include a Golf MK3 dash with working climatronic adjustable steering column, heated leather seats, EW, CL, rare opening 1/4 lights & sliding rear window. Suspension wise, it has front coilovers and the axle was modified again by myself to reduce ride height by 110mm, and whilst I was there I also modified the axle ands to accept rear disc brakes. As all projects they are never finished I still have more turbo pluming I want to sort out and a few little niggles, anyway heres some pics in chronological order This is where it all started Things were growing in here Diesel engine junked Subframe after paint Fresh Paint Interior now Some Toys Toys installed Well thats enough for now

Wow that is way cool If it was mine I would have left it looking stock and had a diesel badge on prominent display for the ultimate sleeper Any idea on what kind of 0-60/ quarter mile times it runs?

Wow! now you're talking. What an amazing machine, fantastic! What did you do for engine management when you boshed the turbo on? was it on the standard eng management beforehand or have you got a new mappable ECU?

Thank for the heads up and kinds words guys I will try and answer all you questions if I forget any give us a nudge Not yet, not had the chance yet, but I'm sure I will in the near future, I'm hoping for a sub 5 second 0-60 and a 1/4 mile in the 13s, we will have to wait and see on that one Yep, copes with it suprisingly well too ;D The Gearbox is from the VR6 donor car, infact everything is! Nothing is left of the Caddy mechanically No LSD as yet, you would imagine that it would light up the tyres everywhere, but because of the larger turbo fitted it hits higher in the revs so wheelspin has not been much of an issue for me It can be a handfull but its quite well behaved tbh. I curse word the life out of a Bentley Continental GT just before Xmas ;D ;D he must have been like "WTF" ;D At the moment the fueling is controlled by an FMU which is not ideal and I'm not a fan of it, but this was only used in an emergency due to being let down by a tuner Lots of plans to come on the turbo route, 1st thing is to move over to standalone management, rework the boost pipes, move the I/C and fit a shortrunner inlet manifold once thats all done I can then crank up the boost a little I will dig out some more pics, and llater on once I'm happy with the tuning there will be some vids to come

I love the way it looks smart and subtley modern without giving too many clues! Top marks! its easy to get carried away when modding the whole thing! spot on. so if i see a silver caddy in my mirror in what ever i'm driving, i'll shift over!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I tried to go for the "as if it were built by VW" kinda look, it actually doesnt turn many heads in the VW world due to its subtlety, I want to change the wheels for something a bit more "retro" but now that I have converted it to 5 stud it make wheel choice more difficult plus the wheels have to be practical coz I used this pickup every day as a pickup Most people think its a MK1 golf when I'm behind them ;D
