You guys don't help...I've been trying to supress 360-love for a long time now...
Which is 'the one' to go for? 340 or 360? As I understand it, 340s have the renner lumps and 360s have the Ovlov lumps and are based on 240 mechanicals...?
...So a 2.3T swap should be 'relatively easy' into a 360?

That is super-cool.
I think that ticks all the boxes for a serious driving tool - modern razzy twin-cam motor, rwd, gearbox at the back, manageable size, etc. Whats the gearchange like? You've done away with the only really lousy part which was the leaf springs. For me the fact that the Volvo 340 looks so sh1t is just the icing on the cake. Fantastic. What does one of these weigh? What layout is the rear suspension now then?

As I understand it, 340s have the renner lumps and 360s have the Ovlov lumps and are based on 240 mechanicals...? ...So a 2.3T swap should be 'relatively easy' into a 360? 360s have the stronger drivetrain (torque tube as opposed to alloy prop) - modifying a 340 you'll really need a custom prop as the splines get shredded on the original prop and putting power through it. The 340's seem to be a little more tail happy, the 360 is a bit more balanced with the extra weight of the beefier drivetrain and engine. And 2.3 turbos?...yes! Need 360 sump/oil pump & pickup, and some kind of injection system, either standard 940 or Megasquirt - the standard LE-Jet wont cope.

Anyone considering using the 2.3 volv engine......my advice is to go for it. No messing. Just do it. I used to have a 740 turbo (Intercooler big badge on the boot) and the acceleration in second was brilliant. Why did I get rid? ? Oh well keeping my eyes open for another can`t hurt...can it?
