visually not much has happned but i have completely replaced the rear suspension with a lightweight subframe, light weight radius arms and coilover shocks. i've fabricated the exhaust system using 2" jetex pipe, medium middle box and a hayabusa back box. i've managed to get the engine fired up on the MBE ecu and sorted the clutch actuation which needed some fine tuning. replaced the wilwood brake proportioning vavle which failed, and put on a fuel pressure regulator. at the moment i'm just doing the bits for the MOT, like the wipers and brake light switch and wheels arches. however last night the bloody thing would fire up will be keeping the body rough and ready at the moment, but car won't be at the retro show tho

its been a while since i did a proper update but have been really busy as i am aiming to get the clubby shipshape for the 29th aug when i drive to nurburgring with a load of other minis. last week it went for it MOt and failed on a few minor things but has now passed ;D :- frayed handbrake cable - easy swap with a new one no rubbers on pedals - £3 delivered from ebay rust hole on drivers sill - couple of hours cutting a welding a patch low rear brakes - adjusted rear brake bias rear brakes binding - slacked off the adjusters as i'd over nipped them nothing securing the bonnet - added some catches its now booked in for a ecu tune next week then a long distance run to mini in the park at santa pod on the 19th (beer and camping ) i've a got a list of minor stuff to do running to about 30 items so will work through those over the next 2 1/2 weeks. its all taxed and insuranced too and had a drive in it the other night after tweaking the idle via the laptop - its bloody scary to drive as the throttle is quite sensitive and the torque means it'll spi the wheels through to 3rd gear (even on part throttle). as its on hayabusa throttle bodies, the throttle cable quadrant is too small i think so i'll bolt on to it a the vauxhall one which is much bigger and should give a more sedate throttle action. pics next up

driver sill repair using a cut out from a cheapo oversill:- temp bonnet catches and carefully applied touches of brushed on red oxide for that genuine rat look :- for some reason I can't get all the pics to show up? bum the current front coilover springs are toooo soft as they are for a standard mini so I got a pair of stiff and longer one to swap over - new ones are 8" free length and 300lbs. one can see that the current ones are wound right to the top of the thread:-

yes, have seen that car in the flesh, and is great......however if you are top trumping consider this - its a rover v8 producing @150bhp (but torque is 200+ ). i'm running around 170-180bhp and similar torque. if I want more but keeping NA then I can get quite easily 220bhp. otherwise i'll get a c20let turbo lump from a calibra from 250bhp and stupid @300 torque. have u read about the engineering issues that the v8 install had to overcome? all my stuff is off the shelf - if summat breaks no probs. Crikey... Just how big are your forearms gonna end up steering that level of motor mischief! Yep, read elsewhere about the joys (!) of Rover-ing a Mini through the front wheels... Would quite like a crack at a mad Mini project myself. Pity base material is either: A) Rotten as a mutha B) Huuuugely overpriced. My mate has a purple Equinox crumbling away in his garage, we throw ideas around every so often, but he still hasnt had the balls to start gutting it for a big / alternative lump. Last time it was going to be either A series with BMW bike head, or (deep breath) Alfa twin spark. He might do something before fossil fuels runs out... Be sure and let us see your finished beastie! Cheers.

been a long while since my last post. since august the car was left in the garage as I lost my mojo for it. I took it to northampton motorsport in december for a remap and suspension setup. it couldn't be remapped as the water temp was spiking on a power run. this was put down to the plumbing set up and needed a bit of tinkering. the fiat uno rad is big enough i was told. basically I have had to weld in a water take off on to the inlet manifold to allow water into the main pipe that goes to the water pump. i've also had to raise up the header tank a bit more to ensure is it higher the cylinder head, i've also tapped in a take off from the stat to the rad pipe, to bleed trapped air into the header tank. whilst doing this I have also started to fabricate the subframe brace bars as the wings and front pan were flexing. these bars will also hold the header tank, horn etc

170bhp! I'm sure there's been crazier stuff done to minis, but all the same, that's a LOT of power for those wee things. Some craic in that!

bit more done since the last update but photos don't really show much. to finally sort the cooling i fitted in astra 1.6 rad its quite large and coupled with the 82deg thermostats, it takes ages to warm up (good for day days!) i had to do quite a bit of mucking about with the fron panel to get it in. theres about 10mm gap between the wrapped down pipe and the rad face and about 5mm from one of the other wrapped downpipes to the pacet fan, which i got from the stonelight triumph show the other month:- also schutzed the front panel i've also been doing the new dash arrnagement. first off, i built up the old school central pod with a smiths telemetrix water tyemp gauge and autometer large full face oil pressure gauge. over the last weeks i've been make the carpet panels for the rest of the dash. i also chopped out the lower dash rail as its was bent and flimsy. replaced it with 1 1/2" steel tube:- external not else much going on. theres a few other bits and bob to do ready for it strip back to northampton motorsport for mapping on friday.

That looks great. I would just leave it as it is. Looks hard as nails. Must be a beast too. Great job.

just got back from northampton motorsport... clubby was remapped and managed to produce 150.6bhp and 135lbft torque. Troy believed the engine would produce more as the PICO injectors were either 1) low impedence or 2) were at max flow rate at 150bhp. power graph hadn't begun to drop, hence why Troy suspected there is more in reserve. still happy as the car is now drivable bit annoyed i forgot to take the camera so no pics
