Just found this thread via a Saab thread on Rods and Sods and your Locost/32 plan is EXACTLY what I've been toying with the idea of for a while now... (but not 4x4 ) Am very interested to see how the proportions look when you take a section out of the body as the difference in wheelbase is a big hurdle as far as I can see. I'm contemplating extending the wheelbase a little but if your methods make it all look good then would prefer not to (my garage isn't that huge!) Oh, & top work with the Kitten btw!

go on uk saabs for the info on the can bus lead and interface bits and the low down on using the can bus for logging and live tweaks but you will also beed the usb bdm interface for bench flashing . Ive got 2 ecus with the bdm interface, one if tuned to stage one, the other is setup for the next stage which is the td04, bigger injectors, 3 bar map sensor and 3 inch downpipe. I just don't have the data logging lead. I'll have a look, someone said they had one made up by someone. Brilliant work on the kitten btw

don't think there is a diy can bus lead but worth checking , have yet to try flashing with the usb bdm but I wont bother trying with the can bus as it just isnt consistant and has given me loads of issues tuning the big turbo recently I think the canbus is best for logging only. Ive got my incar pc built up from on old pc, touch screen all ready to mount up, so just need the cable WOW that is some seriously powerful kitten what do the saab 9000 put out BHP wise in standard form? I have a clubman estate sat on my dads drive that I might look at sticking the saab engine in the back of I mean 500 ponies would be deadly theres a few bhps, the low pressure turbo 2.0 pushes 150bhp, the high pressure one 180bhp. The Saab Aero engines which are the 2.3 ones push over 200bhp as standard. the main thing with these engines are the quality of build. They even have Under piston oil squirters! They take the extra boost really well with only a few mods. great engines and the management systems are genius too!

Seems you're discovering all the complications I've envisaged, but I haven't got an existing chassis. I'm contemplating narrowing front rails to nearer grille width, or some cunning bodywork mods to cover rails (as long as I think it'll look ok). So following your thread very closely! EDIT: btw, how does the width of the body in the bulkhead area compare to chassis width i.e where front door line moulding are? From pics looks like you might have had to pull body out to fit?

Your mad.......
Actually brilliant,
Have you turned the air to air intercooler into a chargecooler by welding tanks to both sides ??

I love this thread, looking good and it's really interesting to read about the problems you've been having / how you're overcoming them ;D

i will be keeping an eye on this esp as I'm building a race car with a b204 that is twincharged.. only major difference is mine is compound charged rather than sequential like yours and I'm gonna be running a fair amount of boost with a m112 blower and holset hx45... so big intercooling and aftercooling is a necessity lol.. very interested to see how well your intercooler/chargecooler works.. looks damn good..

oops sorry buddy my bad i thought for some reason you had a bypass for the supercharger when the turbo gave more psi than the blower... must've been dreaming it lol.. as for wossner pistons we are stockistss for them so theres no issue there..
we will be going for around 3 bar I'm thinking initially.. and yes the charger will be running a decent amount of boost at around 1.5 to 1.75 bar with the turbo tickling it up top as with any compound charging its always a struggle to keep the inlet temps down and the smooth boost climb but we are just going to use a pretty std engine and see when and where it blows up to see what they can take.. read loads about people running them upto about 600hp on std internals but its all internet speak so we are gonna basically destruction test it and uprate after.. as long as it doesnt throw a rod through the sump as it took a while to make that lol...
power wise we are gonna try and start at about 450hp with ideas of over 600 later but who knows its a circuit car so a usable non peaky power is best and it has to stay together so we are happy to loose some top end to give the reliability and drivability we need..

I thought this thing was mentally wonderful when i saw it at York with one TL1000 engine, this now completely blows (compoundly) my tiny little mind...
Cant wait for the next instalment!

heres a video of the first layout with the throttle in the wrong place ,you can really hear the delay between shutting the throttle and the dump valve opening . this was its first drive with one dump valve and the pressure is obvious even without any load on the engine its causing the belt to slip just revving it up

That's really weard, mine doesn't have that delay at all

i've moved the throttle body between the turbo and supercharger as you suggested, but the car won't be running for a few weeks yet.

Not sure on what quantities you're planning on running but it might be worth keeping an eye on any rubber seals as meth kills them. It also destroys oil if running solely on meth, but not sure if it'll be the same with meth/petrol mix. You can get specialist oils to counter it, made out of bio-mass or something like that iirc.
