Hey guys hows it going my names simon and i'm new on here and i thought i post up a pic of my ongoing project. This was it when i bought two summers ago: Not looking great as it was sitting in a back garden for 5 years, came with a van full of parts including a spare engine and box, along with basically enough to build another car. Sadly i've only got the summers to work on the car as i'm at university in glasgow and the car stays down in ayr. Over the year ive lowered it, sorted out the hubs it could take a regular fiat pcd, got minilites on it, ive also put on a fiberglass arch kit which was a total pain as all the arches where a different size and the car isnt the straightest. oh well, so my plans for the future are to get a cage for it a set of classic buckets then get it painted in the racing abarth colours, i'm also getting parts for the spare engine hopefully going to build it up to a fast road spec, or as much is safe to get out of 695cc and 2 cylinders. hope you like it and feedbaack is always welcome. that was the point i realised i needed wider arches. new boot and engine mount panel along with the arches this was before i changed the hubs to fiat 126 ones and lowered it, ALOT!!! ride height sorted, time for some wheels and arches. done!! also managed to get a set of clear rear clusters and side repeters on but i havent been home in ages. i also had to tub out the rear arches to fit the wheel cuz they where rubbing really badly, oh well the cost of lowering a car to much hopefully also do a disk brake conversion this summer when i finish uni, i think i should be able to use bits from an uno or a panda or something like that. hopefully when i'm finished i want it to look like this: cheers guys.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Nice project, the disc brake conversion is relly simple as you can use panda discs and calipers (which are light alloy btw!) You just have to make a bracket to mount the calipers to the old drum backplate mounting holes and machine the disc a bit.
(You do need 13" wheels for this tho. Not sure what yours are)

I started converting my 126 but when i got it mocked up i couldnt get it to work with the standard 12" steels so il probably stick with the drums. Either that or find some mini callipers that might fit.

Nice diddy car! Great work so far and good palns too. How about doing something different with the paint ie. still period looking but something not often found on the Fiats?

Great little project you've got there I remember when I was looking for my 1st car (many years back;)) cycling like mad following a lorry going to my local scrapyard with a navy blue 500 on the back, got to the yard and had a quick squint at it and was given a price of £40!!! so I rushed home all excited and my old man said we'd go and have a look the next day. When we returned someone had already beat me to it Anyway, sorry to waffle on,keep us updated on your progress.

looking great filancia ! Nice set of wheels....what was involved in changing the stud pattern?? My 500 is in slightly less good condition, needing ALL of the external panels and most of the internals replaced except the roof...! see more here www.dropshots.com/gerCheers Gerry (just around the corner in Coatbridge)

My 500 is in slightly less good condition, needing ALL of the external panels and most of the internals replaced except the roof...! It was actually really simple to change the stud patterent all you need to do is get a set of hubs from a late aircooled 126 and its a bolt on bolt off, its never that simple cuz there is always one bolt that will hold you up for hours but yeah its not too bad i can give you a companies name if you want that do 2nd hand fiat stuff see more here www.dropshots.com/gerCheers Gerry (just around the corner in Coatbridge)

I knew you were going to ask that! Well, defintely NOT blue and orange! However 60's/70's Le Mans cars could provide some inspiration. That psychedalic Porsche pictured in the newbie/lurker thread is probably a bit too lairy but there must be others that aren't quite as loud.

I know this is potentially a really boring colour, but I had a look around and I couldn't find any Fiat 500s in Silver. I'm sure there must be some around? Surely a common colour?? If not, one of those Porshe polar silvers would look delightful on a 500. Particularly paired up with some nicely detailed (in black) wheels.
