Sorry for picture quality, used my camera phone in not the best of light, as you can see it is totally bog standard and in need of a bit of tlc but this is without doubt the most reliable car I have ever owned! its a 1.3 5 speed cl with 89000 on the clock and to be honest the pictures don't do it justice! May not be the most exciting of polos but give it time it will be something, being a uni student means lack of funds!     And this is a photoshop I did of a similar looking car, just throwing some ideas down..  Any comments welcome, bear in mind I have only had the car a few months! |

looks mint in that photoshop ! it might not be anything 'special' but its still nice to see. you're just using it as your car and enjoying it - which is the best part about car ownership surely? |

Indeed it is, i do a 240 mile round trip on the motorway in this every week and am coming quite attached to it, it was suppose to be a daily and then i would chuck all my funds at a project beetle but i want to spruce this one up a bit now!
Took it for the annual service the other day and the mechanic refused to do it as he said it was in tip top condition, and said come back in another 5000 miles!

I love these late 80's early 90's VW Saloons, even the vento tickles my fancy! and the mk2 polo saloon is a really nice car. looks more of a coupe than the coupe does! check out ebay.de for loads of cheap bits - and no VAT to add if buying form Germany.
there is very low polo saloon in these here parts with one of those wooden boot racks on..looks v. cool

Cheers for the comments, i really need a correct rear bumper as some dipstick has fitted a coupe bumper at some point on the back of this and it really has annoyed me! Anyone got a correct bumper for sale? this will obviously be for sale/swap.

I need your help people, being as mechanically minded as a sponge finger i am in a bit of a pickle!
I'm stuck in bournemouth because my car has lost all gears but I'm pretty sure its just the linkage and not the box or clutch... can anyone help me out?? getting quite urgent

I hope there is someone on here near Bournemouth that can help mate (I'm down in swansea sorry) good luck. It's a cracking looking car though,my warped mind tells me it should have slot mags and Starsky & Hutch stripes and a little magnetic flashing light for the roof ;D (photochop anyone? ) |

Yeah i whacked a little post in the mechanical section but not much feedback, shall have a look tomo in the light and fiddle with the linkage

If i can select all gears when the engine is turned off and cannot select any gears when the engine is turned on does this mean i have a clutch preblem??

I have been told this is an engine out job to change the clutch.... if this is the case then the job is too costly for me to keep the car!!
Can anyone second this by confirming it is an engine out job?
