Genius work my friend! That's one fine motorcar you have. Any news on the lump? The old engine and box are out, prop is off, wings, bonnet, front grille and valance are removed, and it’s ready to get welded up over the next couple of weeks hopefully. I’ve got a local sheet metal place making me a new centre section for the rear bumper, and then I’m going to have a go at straigtening the front one out and polishing them up. The chromers can’t do them until August so unfortunately I’m going to have to make the best of what I’ve got at the mo, I’ll get them done over the winter if need be. I’ve got the rear oil seal to do on the gearbox, and then a new clutch to fit and then fit the new engine to it before dropping it in the hole. Engine bay will be painted first though, along wit all the steering and suspension components. Then I just have to put it all back together and get it to my house so I can get it prepped and sprayed in time for August 10th!! Wish me luck! ;D techiner, the rear leaves have been flattened out

Finally...it begins Into the workshop at Ratdat acres and strip it out! First examination reveals a fair bit of rot as expected plus it's clear the rear panel has been replaced at some time due to accident damage and the LH rear corner has had some extensive repair work using body solder... The LH rear arch that looked to be the worst of the two was looking no worse after removing a large quantity of filler from it. it seems the previous owners felt the need the apply 5mm of filler to the whole arch and out onto the rear quarter even though it didn't need it. The rear corner is another story entirely though. After getting busy with the heat it seems there's up[ to half an inch of solder in the rear corner and a lot of nasty rust too... All the solder finally removed and the corner of looking pretty bad. it's bent and beaten. it's been welded and been ground so thin it's gone through in places and there's rust holes everywhere... Some close up pics... not pretty! It might not look like it but there's got be over a kilo of solder on the floor here after melting it all out.... The rear valance is peppered with holes and the RH end of the valance is full of solder too (and rust). looks like I'm going to be chopping the whole back panel out to make it all good then carefully refit it. Unfortunately it's been mig welded in so it's gonna get messy! There's rust in the rear arches, floor pans inner wings and chassis legs plus the bonnet needs repairing but thankfully the doors and tailgate are still solid. The back ends the worst but so we'll get that out of the way first. Post some more pics later this week when it's made some progress.

Well, It's been a busy few days down at RatDat acres, I have got fed up of sanding, and Ed has worked wonders on the holes on the rear corner 5 layers of paint and hi-build: Removed!: And the drivers side: It took a day of sanding either side! The skilled bit: A big hole, and the bottom corner repair panel made and tacked in: The top corner repair, and outer rear skin repair panels made and tacked in: The welding force is strong! Welds ground off: and sanded: Top notch job It's all coming together now

WOW - For me that is a new benchmark in welded repairs (previously held by Slater and his Metro subframe mounts).

Thanks for all the kind comments guys They should all go to Ed though, Without his bodywork and welding skills it would take me far longer and be nowhere near as nice. Cheers Dude Todays update from me is very small, but i've just won this for it: Not much but a nice touch for when it's done.
