this is so cool. I was at first amazed at the kwality of the dash board - thats just ace. could sit there all day playing with it, and then you showed me the grille - woah. just how cool?! its fantastic.
the japanesse are great people, and this is one of their best ever cars - period.

Very smart! Love the digidash too, the digidash in that is one of my favourites.
I remember back when AE86s used to regularly go for a grand or two, I liked them because they were always in cheesy Japanese racing games in the 90s. Nearly everything would have the AE86 lumped in. Shame I didn't get one for a first car really, hope prices settle again!

prices will never settle i don't think. i was brought up around these cars going to rallies etc, and when i was about 14 you'd get a nice one for 1300 or so. i said "cool, il easily save up that much and get one" 8 years later and 8 grand dearer

yeah its a cool dash alright with big retro 8-'s switches! they're such a good car for pure grin and fun factor. 130bhp, solid axle, plate LSD as standard.... wet roads will have you grinning from ear to ear. not to mention the exclusive sound they make with a full janspeed have a listen s97.photobucket.com/albums/l224/bapp88/?action=view¤t=DSCI0002.flv

Sounds lush, I personally would not want to risk damaging my own car by doing dough nut in such a tight area! Mega skill

I remember these when they were new - Toyota also launched a FWD hatchback hot Corolla but it is the RWD version that seems to have lasted...obviously. The reason this car stuck in my mind is that it was from the same concept as my car (the Twin cam 131 Sport) but the J car was inifinitely faster in stock trim.
Looking at the numbers still around, especially in Ireland, Toyota used better steel than Fiat and they seem to outnumber everything else from that era. Are the current cars mostly imports or are they genuine Irish cars?

Looking at the numbers still around, especially in Ireland, Toyota used better steel than Fiat and they seem to outnumber everything else from that era. Are the current cars mostly imports or are they genuine Irish cars? about 3 years ago 95% were irish cars with your usual 7x13 superlites, 4 cibie oscars. being in limerick I'm sure theres loads about. nowadays theres so many J ones coming in id say its at least 50/50 if not more japs. its actually stupid how many are in the country now and anoying to enthusiasts like me because most people that have them now are "bandwagoners" so to speak. they did use better steel than fiat (wouldnt be hard ) but by no means good steel. most uk/irish cars have rotten well by now but people keep patching them together. thats why buying one is soo dificult. people cake them with isopon and sell them on. thats why i had no choice but to bring in a J import myself. this pic below would be unheard of on an irish car..
