This is trully excellent! I saw the heavilly lowered blue one on the thread about the Fiat 126 and no one knew what it was! Excellent find! I hope you resore it well! Also, what is the spec of the engine? is it a twin cam? Its interesting to see a 1962 engine with seperate ports for each cylinder and a crossflow design on such a basic car. A very interesting car, I wish you the best!

Excellent.
I especially like that old Mazda emblem on the bonnet. Be sure to keep us informed of how it progresses.

Cheers guys. I love that race car one with the crazy camber. I have loads of pics of them around I might post a few up later.
Regarding the car, I think you will be very suprised at some of the technology in this little beast, I know a well known restorer who owns one and knows his old cars and couldn't believe them when and has been addicted since.
The Carol 600 has a rear mounted 586 cc OHV engine and a total length of 320 cm and width of 132.5 cm. The car was called the 'Carol' most of the time, and the '600', 'P600', and 'N600' in other markets. Independent front and rear suspension with rubber springs and a wopping 28 horsepower to boot. Although despite the power is weighs little over 300kg.

300kg? I've seen a few rusty holes in the pics but surely it can't be that light?

Ok well I think you just may be right that that is a mistake. But i got that from a well informed source and someone who has more experience with these then anyone else I have even heard of. I will have the car wieghed when I get a chance and will find out which is right.
In the meantime I have these specs. This is the best I have from the internet so far, and even that took alot of searching. This is from a 1966 Model 600.
Body type: 4S SAL (anyone know what this means? Doors: 2
Wheelbase: 1930mm, 76" Track: Front - 1050mm, 41.3"; Rear - 1100mm, 43.3" Length: 3200mm, 126" Width: 1326mm, 52.2" Height: 1340mm, 52.8" Length to wheelbase ratio: 1.66 Kerb weight: 585kg, 1290lb Fuel Capacity: 20L, 4.4 UK Gallon
Engine type: Straight 4, OHV, 8 valves total/2 per cylinder Bore x stroke: 54.00mm x 64.00mm Bore/stroke ratio: 0.84 Displacement: 586cc, 35.76 cubic inch Compression ratio: 8.50:1 Max output: 28.4PS (28BHP, 20.9Kw) @ 6000rpm Max torque: 41.2Nm (30lbft, 4.2kgm) @ 4000rpm
Top speed: 101kp/h (63mph) Power to weight: 47.86 bhp/ton
Engine location: Rear Engine allignment: Longitudinal Steering: Rack and Pinion Brakes(F/R): Drum/ Drum Transmision: 4 speed manual Drive: RWD
Hopefully that will help you understand and answer any questions a little easier. Obviously this is just secondary data and is likely to have several mistakes, but you get the idea.

I don't think it was. He only had a 4 door as far as I am aware. This one has been owned by the same guy on the opposite side of the country to Mazford for 8 years or more but never availed to anything with too many cars.
The 2 doors are much rarer then the 4 doors, but they are all rare all the same. There is one thing with my car I cannot find anything about at all. The side flash is something that I have never seen, nor anyone else with any knowledge of these cars at all. It seems factory but its very unusual. Even the paint is different to the norm but definately factory. Either way, I have a contact who has offered to lend me some 1964 Dulux colour cards to find the colours and unless I find its definately not factory it will be staying.
Michiel I think your right about the 4S SAL, didn't even think of that.

Thread hijack: the "big Mazda auction" was when a Mazda specialist sold off a bunch of his stock and projects. Head over to www.ausrotary.com and search for "mazford AND auction". We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Thanks for covering that one Saru. I have a apic of the car they had there at the auction, it is actually a two door. I doubt they willl ever get it 100% original whoever bought it unless they have loads of them for spares. It was a little better condition then mine body wise in a few areas but it was missing most of the harder to get parts and what was there was damaged.
My car has virtually everything, needing only bodywork and rust which is no worries for me. Luckily I am in the right trade.
Also Saru, do you reckon you could keep this a little quiet on Ausrotary for the time being, will post full project once done but I wanna just rock up randomly on a cruise and suprise/trip out a few guys not to mention don't want any unneeded security risk cause it will be getting stored and worked on in a workshop which isn't mine so its not really a problem I want to have.
