Hi all. Recognise a few faces/names/cars from other places. Been registered on Here a couple o months but not posted any pics yet - How rude is that? Anyway, here's my three. All RWD Opels. (D'ya think I got a bit of an obsession going on? : My '72 A-series Manta 1.6S (every day transport for the last year). Now coming off the road shortly to get a bit of TLC. My '83 Monza 3.0S - New everyday transport and very thirsty! And my '86 Manta hatch as it was about 4 years ago. Previously my everyday transport for about 6 years. Now awaiting some serious TLC (replacing knackered 2.4 lump)

Been rebuilt a couple too! It's got a broken Blydenstein 2.4 with stage 3 head at the moment. Was great fun, but kept blowing head gaskets and ended up cracking a piston. Serious ouch! It's now laid up waiting it's turn to get the attention it deserves (I've done over 65k in this lovely). Not sure when, but it will happen The Monza's just had a different head put on (bought it with a cracked one), but will undergo some treatment. Preferably a manual box and 24v lump. Got a recaro interior for it, but I'm still undecided on that front. It does sit low. The wheels are the standard 15" so that gives an idea how low it is, but it's still a damn comfy ride. I'm going to mark up speed humps I'm a WWII fighter aircraft style. Wwon't take me long to fill the door I reckon! As for the A. Well, I've got plans for that too, but I'm undecided as to whether to go through with it. It's a lovely original car, but it's slow.

Nice Opels, likeing the Red Manta, whats the spec? Was that Monza on ebay a while back Yes the Monza was on e-bay in March. The photo's above are how it was when I picked it up. Happy to say it's now up and running (saw it's first R-R meet on Wednesday). Not much has changed, but here's a photo of it to prove it! Ran it from Aylesbury to Hull the first weekend it was on the road (round trip of 500+miles!) The Red Manta has had a busy life. Got written off on a test drive (not my fault) and ended up being re-built. Run in standard form as a 2.0 GT/E for a few years with not much in the way of mods. Exhaust, suspension, K&N, Twin headlights, exclusive kit, wheels, brakes etc Was featured in PC about 4 years ago, but when the article came out it was sporting a 2.4 Blydenstein block The block was a re-worked 2. 2 carlton CIH lightened & balanced with knife edged 2.3D crank, dished and enlarged pistons and so on. The head was stage 3 spec with (very) high lift cam, large valves, tougher springs, vernier pulley, ported & polished. Standard GTE box with a 2.2 L&B flywheel and AP clutch. The weak link was the injection system. I stuck with standard GTE apart from an FSE boost valve. This (in hindsight) led to underfuelling and blowing head gaskets. While the CIH is a tough old block it has it's breaking point and eventually let go about 18 months ago. Which is how it's stayed. It will get out the garage again, but I'm giving up on the CIH now and looking at the V6 route Watch this space!!

Hi Mick! Get one, you won't regret it! Steve's still selling his I believe... Just agreed to getting this other GSE. Picking it up in a couple of weeks, but told the owner I'd have it to look at restoring it. (Oops). It's been sat for 5 years so the metal is looking a bit crunchy. I reckon it's really only good for parts, but will have a closer poke around when I get it. Pics will be posted up as soon as I get my 4rse into gear and download the pics!
