just reminising my Ex- MG metro stripped rear (spare wheel back in to keep it inline) lowered about 60-70mm mini-shop filter on the carb with air intake. used to pop lil flames when changing gear great fun miss it like hell       and yes the pool of water is where it just burst the header tank lol |

bout two years ago now
unfortunately due to excess of cars around my house i had to sell it
sold it to a family friend he drove it around for a bit then his missus got hold of it rode the clutch into the ground it was comin up for tax n mot so he scrapped it
i was gutted when i found out
only very light surface rust on it hard to find em like that now

I used to have one the same as that - D86 AUY  I had it from new and did 80k miles in 2 years travelling round working for my Dad. Was a tad unlucky though, in the first week my Dad hit a parked car in it and dented the wing, a trailer I was towing jackknifed into the rear quarter, another trailer came loose and hit the tailgate,a girlfriend had someone side swipe her in it, someone pulled out into the side of it and hit the other door, also it wouldn`t start one day so the garage came to tow it away and bashed the front spoiler in getting it on the tow truck  Good little car although under street lights every panel was a different colour in the end - inot surprising really as every external panel apart from the roof and bonnet had been replaced ;D After that I got a Metro GTA which was an MG engined Metro wearing a Turbo bodykit - that went to Spain 3 times, the last 2 times flat out all the way only stopping for petrol ;D Still wouldn`t mind one now ... |

Slightly off on a tangent i know, but does anybody know if the MG Metro/ Turbo lump would be a straightforward drop into an Austin 1100/1300 engine bay?
Ive got a hankering for one when i move back to the UK later this year.

Oooh, I've got the hots for this car..... i've only ever had rover metros but i love the austins... i'm gonna have to go sit in a darkened room and think clean thoughts.... 'must not buy another metro... must not buy another metro.....'

Those alloys had odd sized tyres IIRC - Metro GTA had them as well
