Today I started work on the decals 8) We couldn't get the stripes nice, airbubbles all over the place. So we wen to the other things: It was the first time I saw the old style Toyota logo on the car, and i'm happy I chose for it, it looks way better then the modern logo which was on first!

are you going to tidy up the rocker cover?, top notch work though, also with regards to the stickers, try getting a very diluted soapy solution in a spray bottle like the ones you get window cleaner into lubricate the sticker and aid getting the bubbles out, then use a squeegee over the top, kind of like how you should do window tints.

yeah, i've got another rocker cover stripped of the old paint and when the weather gets better i'm gonna paint it with wrinkle paint, to get it to look OEM. But it needs to be 20 degrees or more to get the wrinkle effect to start.

slowly i'm getting somewhere. Today I did a job I was fearing a few months. The construction of the front leafmount is really odd. A big bolt welded to a plate goes through the leaf, bolted on the other side. The plate also needs to be bolted to the car with 2 small bolts. Guess what happens after 33 years, when you remove the rear axle? yes, they all snapped, I couldn't prevent it, because you can't reach the bolts from the back when the leaf is fitted... Thanks mr. Toyota.. But after a bit of drilling (well.. a LOT of drilling ) and a play with the tap I now have 2 working front leafspringmounts! and my new flares came in from Japan, they look and fit way better then the old ones I had. Now it's time to find some new bolts, new gaskets, and change the diffs, so I have a 4.3 diff with LSD centre instead of a 3.9 ratio LSD . it feels good to have the mojo back!

is there an option with the rear axle to swap the leaf springs for an alternative? (love the work) also can someone explain to me what an RCA is and the purpose of it>?

maybe there is an option to swap the leaves, The old rally cars had a weird setup with 4 link AND leafs. But that stuff is way to complicated for me, i'll keep the leafs. Together with the good front setup and 2 ARB's i think i can work around the disadvantages of the rear leaf setup RCA's are roll centre adjusters, if you lower the car, the lower arms (who need to point down slightly) come horizontal or, even worse, point upwards. You'll gain positive camber when the suspension is compressed (not good! ), with the rca's you bring the lower arms back in to their normal position, thus having the good side of lowering the car, but not the bad side

no chance that i make it, there's WAY too much to do.... short list: - somehow make a hydraulic clutch arrangment for new gearbox - find flywheel and clutch for engine - find bolts to bolt box to engine (love to buy seperate parts... ) - fit engine and try to find out what does and what doesn't fit - break in the engine - fix the engine - break in the engine again - refit windows and rest of the interior etc. etc. etc. It'll be the Chaser i think.

last weekend I achieved a milestone! (well, for me it was! ) For the first time in months, it was rolling again! I fitted the rear axle and the whiteline rear swaybar (and in true whiteline fashion, it didn't fit, but i'll make it fit) and fitted everything back, so it was rolling again. then I rolled it outside, took a chair and watched it, probably sat there for more then an hour ;D again, I testfitted a flare, wanted to see how it looks in the sun, without the tight space around it. What a differance..... Swift steelie (allready with 40mm spacer): and a sexy 13x9 ET -30 wheel: Turned it around in the shed and now I can start working on the front! Oh btw, I fixed most of the links in the topic, so 90% of the pics are working again ;D

Good news Thomas..... gonna look a stunner. I'm sick of this work lark - it's interfering with getting on in the final stampede for RR09 How much 'alteration' is needed to make the rollbar fit?

well, it's supposed to go on a bit of box section, which should be on the car, but where the ARB ends, there's no box section! so i have to make some plates to weld in the bootfloor to stiffen it up, so it doesn't tear the floor in a corner
