hi there
i will try to put up some info about my car.
to start with i think i have to explain about the use of the name granada/consul.
in my country that is Norway this car was called a consul from 1972 to 1974 in 1975 it changed the name to Granada but was basically the same car.
so i have a consul coupe from the year 1974
so over to the car.
i found a notice in my dayli newspaper back in 2003 saying that
" i have about 200 cars fore sale " sins i have always been found of Granada's i gave the chap a call asking if he had any Mk1 Granada's, he replayed yes i think i have two of them.
so i arranged to have a look on the cars,
i was lucky to be the first on the site and there it was looking sad and lonely.
the first thing i checked was the front wings and rear arches as this is the first to go due to rot. amazingly the car was genuine solid but it had no engine thou.
i then concentrated on the rest of the car such as interior
this looked to be in fairly god nick no nasty smell or any thing.
so i had a talk with the seller and he stated that it had been there fore at least 9 years as you can see from this picture.
i then asked fore the prise and got it fore £125. this is the same as Norwegian Kr1500.- as a coincident it is the same as you get if you scrap your car in Norway.
then the fun part started howe do i get i home remember it has been there fore 9 years.
well the seller had a big tractor to help me pull it out.
it vent relatively fine
so i then had to get a trailer to get i home as the breaks was utter totally curse word.
after getting it home i could start stripping out the parts from the boot and interior
after getting the interior out i could then check the floor and boot fore rust and holes remarkable the floor was nearly mint
but the boot floor was a bit tatty
i then removed all the old break parts and installed some new one.
in the same moment i removed the front suspension and replaced it with one from 1977 with power steering from an 1983 mod.
after that i was just to slip down my old 1977 mod 2 liter pinto wit 5 speed gearbox from an 1983 mod
i then had to find an new interior and ended up with this front seats from a 84 gia and rear seats from an 83 gl
after changing the fuel tank to one with fuel return it was time to fire it up
this is the first time it runs in 9-10 years or so.
so i hope you have enjoyed to read this and i am sorry for any writing error as this is not my native language .
please feel free to comment and i will answer as good as i can.
