Hello, just joined so thought id post some pics of my 56 bug...
bought it in 02 as this...
then took it off the road summer 03 and turned it into this...
It was originally imported from sweden in 99 , and had seen some harsh winters over there, so pretty much the bottom 3"s were rot... it's had new floor pans, sills, rear quarters, front n rear valances, doors, wings, boot etc etc and took about 3 - 4 months of welding before it was solid again.
done everything myself apart from the spray job which was done by a mate who works at a local ford crash repair centre, and took about 60 hrs prep before it was ready for paint.
Spec - 1300 detailed tp engine (1600 going in soon thou)
fully rewired in 12v (originally 6v) with U S Spec bullet
indicators and flashing semaphores.
3.5" homemade narrowed adjustable beam with 2.5"
cb performance dropped spindles and shortened oil
shocks
adjustable spring plates on the back , lowered 1 outer
spline with boge shocks.
hand polished empi 5 spoke replica's with 145 smart
car tyres on the front, 195's on the back.
wcm headlining, tmi red / white piping interior set,
bambus parcel shelf, orinigal 6v blaupunkt radio...
but nakamichi headunit, jl audio subs + amps being
fitted soon.
future plans include U S Spec number plates, rear fender
skirts....
