Hey guys n gals. Thought I'd make the usual noob post and show you what I am currently working on (and will be driving once it's bloody finished). As of a fortnight ago: As of last friday: After the weekend I have lifted the old lump out (with a lot of help from a good friend), got the gearbox out as well, got the brake callipers off and mocked up the zetec to the car. Now waiting to get funds together to get the RWD zetec escort engine mounts, the RWD sump kit from retro ford and another newer crossmember to fiddle about with to get the mounts to fit and so on and to get all hammerited. Also need to make up the brackets for the calibra stoppers I'll be using, oh and get some R1 tb's fitted to the zetec sitting on the patio (or some gsxr tb's if I am short of money). So not much  BTW any retro peeps round here in Herts? |

Great looking project. In some ways it'd be cooler with the current "grandad spec" wheel trims  I'm not too far away in NW London close to A1/M1/A406 and pop up to Potters Bar occasionally to go to minispares or Moordale Motors Triumph specialst). Great car shop (Cams?) on the high street You should come down to the Ace Cafe classic night. Always some tasty retro stuff. |

I think I might have said this before but a 2.3 slant 4 would be an easy fit, works nice too. Or a Carlton 2.2i lump. Even the XE or LET would be a fairly easy install. I just have an aversion to mixing brands! Plus taking a FWD Ford engine and making it work in a RWD Vauxhall is making work you don't need. Some of the Zetec stuff is expensive specialist stuff whereas all the Vauxhall stuff is scrappy fodder. Unless you're making all your own fitting goodies. Looking forward to seeing this one progress anyway. We need all the old Vauxhalls we can get roud here |

I wonder if that number plate is worth anything? You could put the money towards the mods! ;D Yeah the regtransfer site have valued it at about £400. Even if I get half that I would be chuffed. Alistair I am using most of the escort RWD conversion bits. Will see how I get on with it. *scampers off to ebay for those bike tb's* |

Darn it - I have been SOOOOOOO looking for a set of those rims (Cosmic Slot Mags) with a 4x4in pcd for about three years!  They are one of my favourite rims of all time - so much better looking than Wolfies. If you want to sell 'em, give me first refusal - pretty please with a sodding-great cherry on top.... Nice car too - don't see many Vivas any more. Shame. |

Cool car, and with a Zetec in it.... It will fly ;D I had a 4 door one in Maroon...... one of the sweetest handling and best balanced cars I have ever driven No grip and full 4 wheel drifts at 45mph = big fun ;D |

Well the hard slog has started - will get as much as possible of the car done tomorrow. But this is what I started with today.     Oooooh goody gum drops. A quick Q - when can I put primer onto a panel? Just when all the bits of rust have been eradicated? For bare steel a normal primer will do - I don't need etch primer do I? Thankooo. |
