Well, I've made pretty good progress with the skirts but haven't been able to do anything for a couple of weeks because of work and the weather. So they're still sitting mostly finished in the shed and not on the car before the Supernationals this weekend as I originally hoped. Managed to grab a few hours outside this evening though and got my new springs in the front end The tracking was thrown out (went all toe-outy) but there wasn't enough adjustment on the central trackrod to bring it in so I ended up straightening it (it had been bent some time in the past but the tracking was adjusted to suit) and taking about 4mm off each end in the lathe so that I could make full use of the threads (the ball joints were bottoming out too early). Anyhow, here's some pics... Obligatory before shot... and for direct comparison: Its dropped 2.5" measuring at the front numberplate so exactly what I wanted. Can't go too silly as its gotta be easily driven and once I've got the lake pipes on that'll visually lower it a bit more.

This is great! Like to see nice neat metalwork bieng done, excellent! And the lowering job looks excellent too with nice comparison pics That nibbler you have..... is that a drill attatchment then? Never seen anything like that, i'd like one of those they look dead useful!

Yeah, the nibbler just chucks into the drill it has a hex shaft on it too to prevent slippage. I picked it up form one of the tool suppliers at an autojumble/restration show (possible Stoneleigh?) a few years ago. Cost about £15-20 I think. It makes short work of chomping its way through metal without any distortion but I still find it tricky to cut accurately and you are left with zillions of really sharp cresent shaped bits of swarf

Once the rain stopped this evening I managed to get out there, dry the bonnet off and get the striping brush out. I'm quite chuffed with it actually as I haven't done any for a couple of years. Probably look curse word in the daylight tomorrow though Hoping to add a little more tomorrow in red to tie in with the wheels. Oh, and get the lake pipes on.

That's so ace, I love it, good work with the skirts/drop/pin striping combo. How to transform a vehicle with some custom touches and a couple of hundred quid. Not to mention an eye for detail and a slap of skill of course. I've always wanted an A60 van, but never found one I could afford or that had a floor...
Ahhhhh. ;D

Thanks for the comments guys Home made stainless lake pipes now fitted but couldn't do the red striping as its sitting in the sun and would probably all go wrong. Hopefully get it done before we go to the NSRA supernats on Sunday
