This is my 83 mk1 astra, It is a genuine gte model, quite rare now as they were produced for just 18 months. It is fitted with a modified 2.0 engine & has disc brakes fitted all round. I have owned the car for the last six years. I have has 8 mk1 astras over the years. my old Mk1 SR, sold fairly recently to make space unfortunately. Finaly a pic of the back of my house, kinda shows how much i love em!

Thanks Grayham, It has a 2.0 8v engine in it now. Id like an xe but the 8v in it is very strong & goes like stink so i don't think its worth the change yet. The sr's are real cool, they look so much older than the gte's real retro look about em.
The Cav looks well smart, ive had a couple of them too. another classic boxy shape from vaux! i love em
(i will deal with the size of the pics sorry!)

Cool GTE's bud, particularly feeling the SR Is that turquoisey colour a super rare Vauxhall colour or a respray? You must own most of the hot mk1's left on the road?!

cool cars! not my choice of wheels, but on the other hand, they do look good! my dad had a mk2 GTE, does the MK1 GTE have dials for a dash?

Thanks! The green gte is, or was, a re spray. i had that done when i was 23! 10 years ago.
The dash was dials, i changed it to digital a few years ago, i often think i should change it back. As for the wheels, i would love to stick it back on a standard set but...... They are F**king disgusting! i don't know whether you know what wheels the mk1 gte came with? They are particularly foul so i will keep my flashy ones on i think! The car has been through a lot of changes since i bought it. My tastes have change a bit as ive got older so the single wiper & digital clocks don't realy appeal anymore & will more than likely be changed to standard at some point. But i just cant put the standard wheels back!

I love this car. Lots. I might have a stage 3 head (recently rebuilt) with inlet manifold ported/polished to suit, Viper filter, Piper 275 cam and a 4 branch manifold for sale soon all for the 2.0 8V (pending me findng a decent LET) if you are interested

Nice fleet!!!!! I have a serius soft spot for mk1 astras, particularly the sporting models My mates had a few of them, most of which he destroyed (we can all blame that talentless fool for their rarity : I think he still has one, an origional GTE in silver that he stripped to rebuild but left in bits..... You've inspired me to give him a bell and see if he still has it ;D Incredibly jealous of your collection! ;D

Cool! Welcome aboard, I love the look of Mk1 Astra's, never had one although my girlfriend briefly had one which I think was a blue 1300 auto a good few years ago. Excellent boxy 80's hot hatch!

Nice cars, but I think you're hiding the real treasures from us...what about the Y-plater in the background here: ...and what about the non-kitted beauty to the far right: I'm definitely a bigger fan of the lower-spec models - that rear lower valance isn't to my taste at all! See what I mean - clean'n'low is the way to go!

I saw one of those old cars standing around the local opel dealer yesterday, i think it might be for sale. Its called Opel Kadett D around here And it was OLD. The rearhatch was kind of weird, because it wasnt a full hatch that includes the entire window, it was just the piece under the window that opened.

The ones with the strange looking hatch are saloons. all are poverty spec, are quite rare & have ugly hinges below the rear window. Ive always fancied chopping the roof off one! rmad, i agree, the astras without the bodykit look fantastic. that will be my next project, I want a sky blue 1.2L slamed on some chromes The 1.2 is the same pushrod engine from the chevette, They are very small & look cool in the engine bay(i think anyway!) I posted a pic of the Y plate SR? did it not work? Sadly i sold it a few months ago. It was a 1.6 carb engine. It was loud & raw to drive, loved it
