As per Lewis, yes it's too new probably. Blame him! Needs some tidying up but mechanicals all fine. Stock (for now) except a cheap air filter and some kind of boost device set to stock boost. This is the best of the Daihatsu L500 series. It packs a 4 cyl turbo engine (compared to the 3 cyl turbo in my other car) and 4WD. It also looks daft and I love it. And it goes like a rocket!! Cheesy rear end. The 88 UK-spec ones got the dull front bumper off the basic Cuore/Mira due to regulations about foglights. Rest assured I'll be changing it to the Japan one! Also has dull headlights, I have fancy Japan projector ones ready to fit. Aircon and electric stuff including electric folding mirrors in case you want to go down cycle paths. Absolute excess for a supermini shopping car really, when Daihatsu get to their higher spec models they just add more and more daft stuff. Engine bay needs tidying up but there it is, 659cc, 4 Cyl, 16V, Turbo. Hope to be driving it around about May!

Cool car, i like them! ;d raced something similiar on GT4, good fun Yep very similar, the one on GT4 is the R (no 4) meaning it is FWD instead of 4WD. Same engine and everything else though. Take it for a test drive!! You don't really get the feeling of speed like the real one though, 30 feels like 40, 60 feels like you're definitely going to die. I think they picked the R because the R4 is much rarer than the R in Japan (whereas it was all we got). Ta for comments folks. Will keep you updated as it's a bit more of a project than my other car.

Nowt that I car see, just an L plate Mira that isn't worth anything to him. I'd have it myself if I had £300. If you know anyone who'd be interested I can get his number

Depends really, I just thought now for that money it's probably just a basic UK car with 850cc 3 cyl non-turbo engine, if so that's about the usual price and there's a few around. If it's turbo/import I'm sure I can find a home for it.

It's home now! Arches hosed out now, not too bad, little bit of rust on the driver's side rear arch, others OK! Battery prone to going flat very quickly though, on its last legs! Will sort out a new one. Also put a little 3 litres of fuel in it, it was nearly on empty. Estimated on the road time about a month!

It was off someone who had it spare from a rally car - unfortunately he has absolutely no other parts at all, ECUs or otherwise!
I'll keep an eye open but they are pretty rare.

At last! I have fixed up the horrible rear end arrangement that Daihatsu UK cursed us with. See pic up above the page? Those lights in the bumper, looks like foglights? Basically, the main clusters have not been tested for EU specifications meaning they're not legal for SVA or something. So, instead of getting them tested (due to costs presumably), Daihatsu did a bodge, they stuck all the rear lights in the REAR BUMPER. Those stupid looking things you may have thought to be foglights are actually from outside to inside, indicator, reflector and tail/brake light!! Basically meaning at night no curse word is going to see you because they're absolutely tiny! Not to mention they look messy. However, with the help of some spare lights (though you really just need bulbs) and an untouched rear bumper, now I've got this - It'll pass MOT fine like this, just not SVA I think.
