alistairk in da house: A local fella had a Commodore GSE
I think that 90% of all Comodore GSE Coupe here in Sweden has been fitted with a Chevy 283 V8, GM did something wrong when certifing that model here in Sweden so you could legaly stuff it with a V8 since the increase in power was just under the limit and the car was over weight in the papers so when it went on the scales after a V8 swap it was even lighter than the original documents stated....

283 will stroke to 331. Invisible mod. Not sure if they;d be able to tell the casting numbers of a 327 appart either anyway? I presume the 283 was allowed because thats what the Opel Diplomat had? Damn I want one of these again now, the 2 door pillarless coupe was well tastey.

Nice! Relatives who lived for a while in Belgium in the 70's had a grey 2dr Rekord, and they bought it with them when they returned to UK. Kept it for years even though it was LHD, they were really fond of it, but eventually it went.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Good Classic Spy Movie fodder, I like old Opels. Was that version sold in UK? I remember having a Dinky Blue Coupe version (or was that the Comodore?) All in all, nice cars!

Jepp that was the error made, the car was cerified with the same spec as the Diplomat but in the lighter GSE Coupe, you had to get a document from GM that the motor number was a 282 then it was just to dropp it in and of for inspection and change in title.....
I guess most of them has rusted up or recieved serious damage to the shell byt the tourque of the motor since you see verry few of them at Cruises & Meets....
DP says: The GSE Coupe was a cool car.....
