when i was 16 i had a wod of cash and wanted a motor. not sure on what i wanted but noin it wouldnt be a crappy nova, corsa or rice burning lump of poo, decided on a mk1 tina!!!........... I'm 21 this year and have still never driven her after spending lots of time and money from highschool upto starting uni i rebuilt her with me dads guidance, then stopped.............. untill now!!!!!!!!!! got a thirst for finishing her so am back at it. mad thing is all that remained to be welded when i stopped before was bootfloor, spring hanger, rear valance and arch, so now they're almost complete!! HOLE!!!!!!!!!! SORTED!!!!!!!! crapy picture but u can kinda see new chassis leg and bottom of rear quarter welded on!! the old one was knacked!!!!!! luckily i have already purchased 90% of the bits required to rebuild her!!! in this cupboard lies my engine(in bits) loom and ancilaries!!! intended spec is as follows: 1360 crossflow -big valve head -unleaded conversion -lightened+balanced bottom end -new everythin!! -kent A2 cam -4speed -twin 40s -4.4 diff -panhard rod and linked axle -leda front shocks n springs -decamberd rear leafs final colour will eventually be red but no funds for that til i finish uni!!!!! sorry bout pic size guys!!

Excellent! You must be itching to drive that Looks like youve done all the worst jobs, look forward to seeing it complete! Regarding the paint, if it was me i'd do the engine bay in the desired colour and just run it round in primer til funds permit the respray

just run it round in primer I agree with this bit... ;D

|
... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

ok chaps since il be painting the underside relatively soon, i wanna know ur oppinions, suggestions etc... for best technique. my plan is: -spray with Jenolite rust eater -prime with red lead -spray 2k surfacer -brush on synthetic radiant red top coat( or spray??) this will be for underside of floor, inner wings, etc... and i think itl give good protection as well as good finish, i just hate working under a car thats covered in black underseal!!! wat use think??

Looking goooood!!! I'm doing an Anglia, I know what you've been through with the rust on that thing!!!
I wouldn't bother with the steel rods on a 1300 to be honest. Unless you are taking it up past 8000rpm there's no need on a road engine. I've been running a 1700 for years with stock rods and bolts and it holds up fine. Mine is a 1660 with flat top pistons, full race pre-crossflow head, Kent 244 cam and twin 40's. Serious screamer. I've also got an almost unused 1760 bottom end with forged pistons and same cam, but I'd need a crossflow head to run that one.

I'm aiming for 100bhp from the 1360 which i think is doable with a good strong build. wat u reckon?? knew u jad an anglia, ur registerd on 105speed to eh?? I'm on there as chiz

You're not doing things in halves then?!!!
Yeah, 100-110hp should be easy from a 1340. See if you can get a VW Derrington manifold for a single 40 or 45 Weber, it'll really do the engine favours without drinking too much petrol like twin 40s. I'd probably go wilder on the cam though, the A2 is quite an old grind. Go for a Kent 244, 234 or 224 depending on how much lift your head can take. Also look at changing that diff to a 3.9 as it'll make driving much easier!

ive got a few diffs to choose from,
4.4 3.9 3.75 3.89
oh and my welded 3.89 for drifting!!!!!
in all honesty mate how nice it is to drive is no concern to me!!!! practicality is no issue!!!!
i was researchin me cam and yeah the lift is a bit smaller than id like, but cost limitations mean I'm just gonna run the A2 as i have one already!! unless an ebay bargain presents itself!!!
i really like the single 45 idea and they seem pretty reasonably priced so maybe something for the future!!!!!

looking good, I'm just baffled trying to work out which mk1 tina it is! may sound silly but there were 2 mk1 tinas, a pre airflow, ( not sure what it was called before!) and an airflow, i cant really tell without the trim though!!
