might relocate to boot for weight balance too - trouble is I think the cable required might negate the saving Try pulling one out of a Mini...Or 2? I had a spare cable from my Donor mini and thats what i used to relocate the Battery on the Metro. Might save a few £

BC, I have seen the battery (when they are the gel type and hence don't give off nasty charging gases AFAIK) placed in the front of the passenger footwell on the floor. Means its mounted low down, further back and minimal extra cable run-age to make it work. Heres a pic of it.... on top of the footplate thing.... Think that 8kg figure came from a chap who did it you a Mk2 Astra GTE. Also.... smaller alternator? cant really think of much else. Must be something. Hmm getting rid of the Monza subframes and just have sidemounts on the seats? Or whichever mounts yours has LOL. Makes them un-adjustable sadly but saves a few Kgs. Worth doing on the passenger side if nothing else.

Took it out today and it's a lot of fun - wider road tyres on it and it's spinning them up exiting roundabouts Safe to say it's running as good as it's ever done Will the rolling road on Sunday prove that what I can feel is right? ? Taking along a std 3.0 12V GSE as a control the roller figure doesn't matter the difference between the two at the wheels does ;D And it's been run on the dyno again........ Previous best dyno run was 167 bhp at the rear wheels and I reckon it was superb when I ran it then Since then I've had nothing but grief and problems plus an engine rebuild after I lunched the bottom end and wrecked the crank and a fair few electrical issues that have been a pain to sort Today 173.6 bhp at the rear wheels so guess who is a happy bunny (I'm going to ignore the extraperlated at the crank figures cos it varies so much from dyno to dyno it's only good for "pub talk")

Nice one Ian, you should be pretty pleased with that. I am presuming the other line plotted on the graph is the torque curve and if it is that looks a really flat spread of torque across the range

Nice one Ian, you should be pretty pleased with that. I am very pleased with that indeed I am presuming the other line plotted on the graph is the torque curve and if it is that looks a really flat spread of torque across the range It is and it's flat like an iron board - you are gonna have to have a drive of it sometime it's so damn tractable you can be in the wrong gear and it makes no difference ;D Mind you dunno what it's gonna be like with tripple webbers snorting away and a set of higher lift cams but I guess I'm gonna find out soon enough

Date: 8th June 2007 Venue: WHSmith As a few of you attended the Track day at Marham know we had some Total Vauxhall reporters at Marham Well they were at mine on Saturday before Marham Well can't keep it a secret any more Back cover of this months TV mag - Next month = Track prepared 24V Monza...... jolly pain in the backside forgot about the fact they promote future issues!!! Better come clean here then!! PS does that explain why I was all of a suddenly very keen to get the cometics a bit more presentable a month or so back - chequered roof - de-rivetted flanks - Header tank and washer bottle fixed with welded brackets rather than MOT acceptable bungy cords And to a lesser extent - exhaust system mods - harness bar fitting normally I'm only interested in the mechanicals being A1 ;D

Outstanding work,.. and a very worthy car for a feature... Just realised I need to buy another magazine now!! Thanks for that - I was approached early last year but to be honest I felt that it was not suitable for a feature - cable tied clocks - primered roll cage - slipping clutch and an awfull lot of other unfinshed work. Then I blew the engine up so it turned out to be the right move I was just happy to have it on the road at that time and knew it would take a while to get it sorted properly mechanically and probably it would never be cosmetically anything other than a bit of shed When they approached me again I got a kick start on the cosmetics!!! ;D

That'll be the first TV i've bought in 2 1/2 years, ever since they turned to the 'kit 'n 'bling school of modifying/'tuning'.
Excellent looking graph as well there matey. Look forward to nabbing that TV.
