ok guys, here is the second of my minis, its a 1968 morris mini deluxe, but it wont be like it is now for long, for christmas I'm getting a few new bits for it, plus some sponsors i have are paying me and in a couple of months i will build this one up into a hillclimb and sprint mini, the engine will be heavily modified to produce (naturally aspirated) roughly 150bhp, which for a mini is beasty! it will be getting holden camira disc brakes, which are big! and some big wheels with wide arches, also i will be addinga full roll cage, a bucket seat, 6 point harness etc etc etc anyway here are some pics of how it is at the moment, I'm wondering if i should paint it a different colour, but we will see. seat and harness, seat is sparco, harness is motorsport quality which is a new brand and is brilliant! helmet is an agv 2006 model, and has a blue iridium visor, only cost $299 aussie dollars, which is a steal as its a quality helmet.. i will keep you all updated, I'm sure it will be a constantly updated thread as this sunday alot of stuff is coming for it! cheers sean

That rocks I love minis now that I don't own one anymore ;D I love the fact that you guys still got the MK1 lights and stuff on your minis anter we'd switched to MK2. MK1's look so much cooler. Engine sounds sweet, what spec will it be? What wheels and arches have you got planned?

cheers guys, I'm planning on fitting either compomotive cxr's, or some superlights, as they will need to be 13 inch to clear the brakes! engine spec is a secret atm, we are getting a 1275 a plus unit sent out from the uk, then attacking it, big time, i cant wait! and yer in australia the basic mk1 design never changed as the production stopped pretty early and they produced clubmans for a while, shame they stopped production, there would be alot around still today as the rust problem isnt so bad over here, it doesnt snow, so no salt on the roads!

we found that hydro with shock absorbers is fine for now, when we start to get more seriouse we will change it over, but for now its fine! 150bhp isnt all that hard to get from the a-series it just has to be build right, 1293 miglias run around with 140odd, so 150 shoulnt be all that hard to find from a better set up

150 Will be a push...and you'll be doing very regular rebuilds at that level.
Why not go for a K-Series, VTEC or XE/Ecotec swap?

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum

Yeah, I thought that too. The thing with Miglia racers is that they do rebuild thier engines on a regular basis, they have to because they die very quickly, they're only good for a couple of races before they're due for a rebuild. That's the problem with trying to get big power from a small engine, especially one that was designed over half a century ago. The A series is agricultural by modern standards. Reallistic power is 100bhp tops for a reasonably reliable engine, and you'd have to start with a top notch one, building it from a tired old engine would just kill it. My mate built a 100bhp 1275 from an engine with 80,000 miles on it and it just gave up.
If it were that easy to squeeze 150 bhp out of an A series, we'd all be doing it

it can be done, and done well, reliability will be fine aswell, it all depends what you modify for the power, might end up supercharging it later on so that will be even more fun !!!

it all depends what you modify for the power for 150hp thats gonna be everything!!! I'm building a full race 750 reliant engine and am aiming for about 80hp.

at the wheels or the crank? I'm going for crank, so roughly 120 at the wheels, still will pull like a train
