so what is the difference between a golf driver and a plain vanilla golf? iv heard something about it being between the normal one and the gti.
also do all golfs have that dent in the back? (the one below the 6 on the plate) mine has it as well, it uncanny.

Looking good, I miss mine, it even had a matching dent in the back ;D
You need a clockset from a late Golf GL, they have a tacho but no MFA.

There is a difference between early and late Mk2s, some have 2 plug sockets for the clockset and some have only 1.
I can`t remember which way round it is but you'll need the matching clockset as I don`t think they are interchangable.

Hmm, been a while since I looked into it so had a look on the ClubGTi forum and they say an early car is identified by a 2 plug clockset and the hazard light switch on the dash rather than on the steering column shroud.
My old Driver had the later single plug loom so would have been a straight swap from a later GL, not sure if the GL was produced with the 2 plug loom.

hell, nice car - but I'm with everyone on the little strip... i hate them lol. i think a single lamp grille would look good, also, have you thought about painting the wheels black or a gunmetal/very dark silver kinda colour? the rear lights look abit..... old? kinda like the sun has got to them but i notice u plan on changing them. you shud do some of the rust then urd have a sweet car. u shud slam it, roof rack....
