we bought this in october. from a very loving owner. only a few thousand miles in the past 10 years, recepits and everything. All the work was carried out by Scimitar Specilists and no expense spared. The bloke was selling it because he wanted a car he could take his young daughter out in and there wasn't seatbelts in the back of the Scimitar. He looked at having some installed 'but didn't want to ruin the originality' All good, until we came to drive home... we broke down 3times! fuel supply issues, and it just cut out once and then wouldn't start. so we had to leave it running. the other problem was that as it started raining the wind screen wipers stopped working! ;D however, it was only drizzle....anyway, here she is- how you like it.... Shiney chrome, hope you like! ;D I do

bit of an update for you. Had it's MOT on Tuesday and passed. It's now also got new oil, oil filter, and rear shock absorbers. I've spent today cleaning it and polishing the chrome - who needs a mirror when you've got chrome bumpers? Now i am very impressed with that! Does anybody know whether those front fog lights were standard fit?

What are they actually like to drive and how well does it go? Obviousily I wouldn't know what it is actually like to drive, but it goes well...lots of torque. the only annoying thing is the gear stick rattles when you are driving along. It's not my kind of car, as it feels more of a tourer rather than a racer, not that i don't like it...but i'd rather have something that enjoys being revved and is a little smaller...

The model that you have is a SE5A. They were made until October 1975. The front spots are not standard. They were fitted to the later SE6 series. The standard fitment (offered as an extra) was for a "driving lamp" fitted to the offside and a fog lamp to the nearside. The 2 switches were mounted on the lower central console to the right of the ashtray.

It's a SE5B isn't it, because it has the different dash. The SE5A had the centre console coming up from the transmission tunnel to the top of dash, whereas ours, has it stretching across from the dials...if you get me.

No. That was the SE5, which was first made in 1969. They only made the 5 and 5A, there was no 5B (there was a 6B). The 5A was introduced with modified dash and the uprated Essex engine. I have one of the last 5As. Although registered in Jan 1976 (when the 6s were available) it was made in October 1975. I have done lots of mods to the engine/cooling system and am in the process of installing an Eaton M65 supercharger to it.

Right, you need to open a photobucket account, www.photobucket.com then you upload the photos from your hard drive, and add the URL that appears under the image into a post. That is not explained very well i know, but give it a go, and see what happens and then i can tell you if anything went wrong.
