People must spend more time wondering what other symbols to use instead of the real words than it would take just to type it out normally! :S Absolutly! I don't mind anacronyms, it's txt spk I can't stand!

To be fair, motoring-types have long used acronyms and you needed to be on top of them when buying cars out of the classifieds.... do you want EW and ES, or will EM do you? Is ABS better than ESC, is your S the PA type, and is your SH F? And then you get the dodgier dealers.... full cow, slushbox.... Admittedly the intertubez have pushed this much further and introduced acyonyms to everyday life, but if you grew up with it (like I did: got my first 14k4 modem as abirthday present in 1994!) it's second nature. Never be afraid to ask what something means
