Think these are called a "Sun top saloon" or something efete like that. Belongs to a mate of mine, he needs it gone as he's moving house (not sure what that has to do with it, he really has to sell it as his Mrs is on at him to sell it, cer-tish - sound of being WHIPPED) Its T&T (can't recall how long) and its a nice running, driving car. Dark blue with a pale blue interior. All in good order except the "home made" carpet set. When left standing for a while you need to "pump up" the clutch before driving. Otherwise all good. Paint is nice and shiny, a few bits of blistering here and there, nothing serious, an honest old car. Recent new tyres. CD player (nothing cut or messed with to fit, can easily be removed) Car is in Nottingham. I reckon its got to be worth £750. Am I out of touch? Make a sensible offer or tell me if I'm wrong on the price.

That looks like a pretty good deal 12/50's are relatively uncommon compared to normal 1200's and later 13/60's. I'm guessing that the valances are fibreglass as they're smooth and byumper free. That's not necessarily a bad thing though! Hey Qwerty! You seen this!

I think they could be. I never really noticed.
If you look at the bottom pic, thats stone chips and rust scabs not a reflection of the gravel.
Thats about the worst bit though and its all surface, not deep rot coming through.
Needed like £20 worth of welding on one outriogger for the last MOT.
Good honest old car for someone.

£750 doesn't sound out of the way for that, it's an honest-looking old bucket.
TBH I would have thought that would be an ideal buy for someone young who wants a first 'older' motor. Every Herald I've ever driven has left me with a big smile on my face, they are real fun cars to own.

It might be worth mentioning that where those scabs are is purely a cosmetic "sill" panel and not at all structural. Brand new ones are about £20 and they screw on.

Ah, I've got a 12/50 badge at home! Was wondering what it was off. Now I know!
Seems good value to me. Buy it and stuff a six-pot lump in for a true sleeper-mobile! Just don't get carried away on bends...

2.5 more of a pig to fit apparently - well, to the Spitty/GT6 at least (sump is the issue I think).

Lovely looking little thing. Id say its worth a punt at 700 quid. If it runs well, which I'm sure it does, it will give someone a great deal of fun for under a grand including insurance. Good cheap classic motoring.

I think its worth saying that chucking a six pot into a Herald is not a small task. Everything would need replacing/upgrading. Much better to tune the 1147 into a screamer. The Le Mans Spitfires got something like 120hp out of a 1147 lump ;D Easier is to chuck a 1300/1500 Spit engine in. Weighs a lot less than the six pot too.

Sadly money of the actual cash variety is needed to pay for sollicitors and estate agent fees and thing like that.
