Due to lack of funds available I'm considering flogging my Oxford. Its a solid old motor but hs no MOT or TAX (its tax exampt of course) To see the road again it will need new front outriggers(supplied) and a 50p size patch on a sill plus a few bushes doing in the front suspension. Theres a scab on one rear arch and the bottom of the rear wings are bubbling. Front wings are solid but look to be full of filler under the headlights, bottom of a couple of doors are bubbling and theres also a bit of grot behind the indicators but none of this is MOT stuff. Good starter but has a slight bearing rattle from a big end on start up that dissappears within a second or two. This is an engine I fitted myself because the original engine failed within a month or so of me buying the car, I fitted new core plugs and engine mounts when I replaced the engine. Interior is good but the seats and carpets are black instead of red. Drivers door card is a bit tatty Paintowork needs attention in places
I have a set of good used doors and new sills that the buyer of the car will have first refusal on.
Theres probably a few other things that need to be mentioned that I cant think of at the moment. I think ive undersold the,car quite a bit and made it sound like a real shed when it isnt, its a good basis for a "rolling resto" Ive been quoted £300 for the welding but it would be simple enough to do yourelf if you could weld. Its good fun to drive and you get a real 1960s feel from it, it keeps up with modern traffic no problems and can do 60 on the motorway (wear ear defenders though!)
I'm looking for £450 for it. That includes the new outriggers and a few spares. If theres no interest ill just leave it in a garage for a few years until theres money in the bank to finish it!
Pics on request.

I believe (from eBay anyway) that it is currently the thing to say "remember pre-68 is coming" in the sale of any non-concours A60! How bad is the welding. Would a partially sighted MOT tester be likely to miss it?

Would a partially sighted MOT tester be likely to miss it? Yep, this would be prime track fodder, although its out of the typical banger drivers price range some will pay top dollar for a solid A60. In my opinion it would be a great shame to race it but as everyone knows, nothings too good to race. As for the welding... No it would definately need doing for its MOT. Its not alot for someone who knows how to weld and being an old car the metal is very thick and easy to weld. If you found an MOT tester who was blind AND was open to bribes then you could be in business.

too late, I spotted that. Although being an auto it is probably the slowest form of transport known to man.

I'd try get an MOT and do ebay, looks good for price! tried pactical classics forum etc? If I could get it MOTd id keep it. I havent got the funds available to pay someone to do the welding though and probably wont have the funds to do further work in the future after that. I just hate having a non working car sat in the garage. Its depressing. The car goes from a working "living" car to a big ornament. Having a car off the road defeats the object of owning the car IMHO! I havent been on the PC forum before. Il check it out in a bit.
