Not my car but happy to get any answers or contact details below.
He is open to offers, been offered £50 from the dreaded scrap man but does not want to go down that route.
So come on what could you do with this.
It is with deep regret that I must announce the sale of my 1.3 Montego. I woud like this car to go to a good home.
I bought this car about a year ago, from its first owner. It came from Appleyard's of Leeds in 1987, and comes with the original Appleyard document binder, within which is quite a lot of history including the original bill of sale.
The first owner paid a total of £7451.00 for the car on 20th October 1987!
Good bits:
* Very rare Montego in 1.3 guise.
* MOT until 21st September 2007.
* 45,000 miles
* 1 previous owner from new
* Nightwatch Blue
* Very nice grey interior, with uncracked dashboard and very comfy seats!
* Clean headlining, although a little on the saggy side! (The material is new as it was recovered, but didn't stay stuck up for long...!)
* Body-coloured door handles and with 'chrome' rubbing strip inserts
* 3-pack instrument cluster
* Manual choke conversion!
* Towsure towbar.
* OEM Cigar lighter! (Not original, although blanking plate also supplied if you really want to go back to outside-bog-spec )
* Good tyres all round on original 13" steel wheels with correct Austin-Rover wheel trims.
* Lots of service history.
* No radio wired in, but I will throw in an Alpine face-off unit for free.
* Has lived in a garage for most of its life.
* Some spares included with car.
Not-so-good bits:
* Some surface rust appearing in areas.
* Rear wheel arches have been replaced at some point, and the filler has begun to crumble!
* Back end of sill has been patched up to MOT standard, but is unpainted.
* No tax, currently declared SORN
* The car ran well up until a week or so before I took it off the road. It had a slight misfire which I think I have cured, but it is very sluggish now and would probably benefit from a service!
* First owner bounced off the scenery a bit with the bumpers, which are scratched and multicoloured!
The car is available to view by appointment in Stockport, South Manchester. Viewing is highly recommended! The 1.3 model is underrated by many, but I believe it is an excellent car - it holds its own very well up until about 70!
If you are interested at all, please PM me or e-mail me on f1_mw *at* ntlworld . com (remove spaces and replace *at* with @ symbol...).
Chris.
